They probably gave them dudes a few bucks but nothing substantial
Dude said it would cost 10 million just to make it open world. Then more shyt they could do if they kept meeting bigger goals
In comparison, the original cost 47 million to make. Now you looking for the updated better version, it's gonna need that or ballpark at least
The kickstarter didn't even get 10. I highly doubt Sony came in there with 30-40 million for a project that wasn't even originally theirs. Like I said. Maybe after they see some good numbers. But not now
Either way I'm expecting Shenmue 3 to be a very niche game that will rely heavily on the nostalgia of the first 2 instead of bringing the game to modern times, and I don't mean just in graphics, or overall presentation. They need to do more with the formula. If the reason they fall short is money, then hopefully there are enough sales for there to be a fourth, that allows them to make some much needed changes to this game.
Don't get it confused, I'm 100% getting this game on day one. I'm just not losing my mind over it, and I'm going into it with low expectations.
Not to completely derail the thread, but I feel about Shenmue almost the same way I feel about Kingdom Hearts, in that, its been so long since the first one that unfortunately I've lost almost all interest in playing the last one.
