The problem with stories like this is that they don’t highlight the emotional and sociologically sacrifices made in pursuit of material gain.

You miss things like your first heart break, first kiss, living together with a significant other, determining true friendships, how to have work/life balance, finding your hobbies and interests and etc.

You end up having to learn a lot of these lessons while the stakes are a lot higher with potential for greater losses.

Instead of your first run in with a dead beat being while you live with your parents working at the grocery store you are running into this person while you have a six figure income, house, and car....instead of tricking off buying a pair of pants and flowers you going on trips and paying bills.

Since you’re green in relationships you end up marrying this person and now the separation includes a baby, child support, and alimony all because you didn’t take the time to learn relationships when you were younger.

The worse case is being lonely with no game and inability to make friends. You have a lot of disposable income but find out that the bank ain’t there to comfort you when you’ve had a bad day, your Stock Portfolio can’t take you out on a date, and your IRA ain’t sex you all night and cuddle you in the morning.

I work in finance and she acts and looks like the exact kind of women I talk about: Accomplished financially but very insecure and lonely. If you have to brag about your success it's 99.99% certain you're lonely and insecure.
