You already know the stans on here can’t allow this. It’s getting to a point you can’t even compare Kobe to his own self.
“You can’t compare Kobe to Bean :damn:, Bean was good but his Mamba mentality wasn’t the same :damn:

I think they both probably would have been ranked pretty high all-time at their positions.

I thought Hill was better than Penny. He did have more healthy years, he had 6 years before the ankle injuries while Penny had 4 years.

Hill’s speed and explosiveness for a 6’8 guy was stunning. People compared him to MJ early on, but he was more Pippen with more scoring (and less defense).

He made an All-Star game in Orlando after all the injuries (and almost dying). Players were talking about how he was still so fast despite being in his 30s and having suffered those injuries.

That’s another thing that was impressive about Penny. He got fukking shot in the foot in a robbery before he went to Memphis. He wasn’t able to overcome the knee injuries but he did make a great comeback from getting shot.
Yeah Penny went through some stuff coming up:wow:
Healthy Grant is better than both :manny:

With my own eyes I've seen at least four players I'm taking over Kobe if I had to start a team, and I'm being generous and not including Magic, Bird and Isiah because I didnt catch their primes

Penny is absolutely in the fukking conversation

depends on how you measure "as good as"

individually nah because he didnt have kobes mentality

stat and accolade wise, maybe close. But that doesnt tell the individual story of 1V1

its like comparing Duncan to Rasheed Wallace but only using stats and achievements

Combination wise… Penny/Shaq were entertaining and fun to watch.

Kobe/Shaq wasn’t always fun to watch. When they started to go at each other, really sucked the fun out of the duo for me.

Kobe wanted to be the top dog, Penny didn’t mind letting Shaq be the top guy and played his style game that complimented Shaqs game better.

So of course Shaq would say Penny was a better player. Becuase he wasnt selfish in his eyes.

All that said…. Kobe was still better than Penny. Just saying what Shaq really meant, which I can understand his point of view IF that’s how he meant it.
