It seemed to me Adams initially came over and wanted to deescalate it, and then Shannon kept on popping off at Brooks.

Whatever Adams said, I highly doubt he ever thought about throwing hands with Shannon. It would've been barking about nothing. If someone is trying to push you back like that trainer did, you're naturally going to put up some resistance. It's not always a pretend hold me back sort of thing.
