68+ is entirely too high. 60-63 is cool.
Why? Missing 20 games due to "rest" or an injury you can damn well play through (look at Giannis last night), shouldn't be rewarded. I think the minumum should be 70 games. If you get a legitimate injury like an ankle injury, where you would miss 3-4 weeks, then that can be overlooked, but instances of sitting out games due to fake injuries to cover up resting like Luka, Kyrie & Giannis are doing right now should absolutely count against you if you're in the race for MVP, an All-Star appearance or making All-NBA 1st team. This bullshyt has to stop at some point. If players really cared about awards, then it's time to tie it to availability. No more sitting out nationally televised games, just to rest. You should be denied consideration if you sit more than 5 games a season due to resting. If you want to sit out the second night of a back-to-back, cool, if you want to take a night off during a road game, fine, but don't bytch and complain later when your name doesn't come up in the MVP race. Don't act shocked or dismayed when you don't get 1st team All-NBA, when you sat out 15 games, and took yourself out of the running.
If these players can't handle back-to-backs anymore, or think that the schedule is unfair, then talk to the NBAPA, and shorten the season. If players can't handle an 82 game season, then shorten it to 60-65 games. Start the season around Christmas. This eliminates all of those problems, and leaves players with no more excuses to miss games due to BS reasons.
