You had games of every genre that were well represented.
360/ps3 lasted 8 years and yet the number of games on the previous generation dwarfed them.
You had dreamcast releasing games that were experimental as hell and would never see the light of day now.
Compare xboxs first party offerings to 360

Ps2 was loaded with more classics then any other system in history.
You had new genres popping up. Studios were thriving.
Nintendo was at their most creative.
Studios shut down left and right during the ps3/360 era.

Breh I owned a Gamecube, I played that shyt for like 3 years straight... and the only games I can actually remember from it are Mario Sunshine, Nba Street and mario kart.. that shyt was a flop compared to n64
Eternal darkness and resident evil 4 are both in my top ten games of all time.
You had them taking strange risks like geist, luigis mansion, eternal darkness, wind waker, metal gear solid remake, animal crossing etc.
Resident evil remake, resident evil zero, killer 7, baiten kaos
They brought back metroid, gave it to an unknown studio, made it a fps and it was incredible
Not to mention mario, fzero, pikmin, super smash bros.
And the wavebird changed the game and made wireless cntrollers the standard.
Gamecube was a phenomenal system with loads of games.
Great games like super monkey ball, viewtiful joe.

I have the game it pretty fukking good. I put it down to watch college football. I put in about 3hours so far, The best game I've played this year that is not a remaster. So much shyt to do and remember and the enemies remember shyt and you must investigate to be some of those fukkers.
