It's hard to sell black movies to a white audience. Especially the ones in middle America. Basically, white people will not support anything black, unless they can't or are not willing to do it. That's why they support basketball and black music.

Here's how I see it.
When a great black film comes out, just go out and support it, then maybe Hollywood will start churning out more great black films.
I didn't see too many of us in the theatre when The Great Debators came out.

Another big problem with Hollywood is that they rather use black singers and rappers over new black actors
at this point i feel like they're doing it as an inside joke.The black man always dying in a movie is true. I would go to the movies with my brother and bet a black man will die, even if he plays no significant role as a villan. He would tell me I'm being delusional, but it happened every time I predicted it. There is no doubt that this is openly practiced among hollywood. Mind you this occurs in movies where we do not have a lead role and where violence is part of the movie. Look at good fellas and the departed. Look how the only black guys in the movies went out.

as far as not enough black people in movies. it's all about money. if you're white and putting millions of your own money behind a movie, you probably want to make sure there will be a return. if you have a perception that most white people wouldn't necessarely go see a movie with an all black cast, and the majority of of the public is white, and again you have millions of your money on the line...it doesn't even matter if their perception is right or wrong. in their mind, it's still a bet. and would you take that bet for millions? especially when their's already a formula that's percieved as successful?
the reason they'll still make movies with all white casts is because they know that black people, latinos, asians, etc will STILL go see the movie anyway. it's all about finding the common denominator. what people need to understand is that it's not because they hate black people. you think they care if the money comes from black or white hands?? all they care about is the amount of money. and they try to make movies that MOST people will go watch. their perceptions about the market might be old fashion and outdated but that's the way they see it and it's their money...

That's why i never really bytched about it. Honkies are just trying to protect their pockets. blacks make up 13% of the population & we wondering why no studios want to drop $100 million on a chance a black movie blows up.
Trust. They not financing those kind of flicks with an Indian, Chinese or non-white Latino actor either. The reason why you don't hear those communities bytching about it as much as us blacks do is because they support their own film industries in their native lands----Bollywood, Chinese flicks, South American flicks----so it's 
if they're not represented in domestic movies. African Americans, on the other hand, aren't lining up to buy Nollywood films.
