I watched the video. I agree with Yvette.

We do fetishize Black culture vs what we perceive to be white culture. Saying your culture is superior means nothing in the real world. Does your culture get you resources to empower your group or is your group subject to the whims of another? If the latter is true, your culture is not doing much for you so saying, "we got a better culture than those white people," does what for us, exactly?

It is a catharsis that we get from saying that sort of stuff because we, as Yvette said, lack so much in terms of resources.
Oh wow.... So is that why yall have spent the past 5 years ranting about movie roles, who started hip hop, random podcast opinions and the like??? Granted, all of the outrage for THAT kinda bullshyt has concerned Black immigrants-- yet its repeatedly called "erasure"

Sounds like "If it ain't white it aint right" to be breh. YA'LL WANNA BE WHITE. Might as well embrace it

I am noticing a lot of these foreign folks keep saying things like "Black people from NY are different from Black people from Cali or 'insert other state' "

They are subtlety trying to bring tribalism to America.

ADOS/American Freedmen (or Black, not African) culture is pretty much the same everywhere in the U.S..
That's not true, I'm from Atlanta Georgia. I don't share too much in common with a nikka from LA or NYC. There's differences

Now you are trolling.

Well, you might not be ADOS.

I am from the Midwest and have family on the West Coast, deep south, and East Coast. I have no problem connecting with other ADOS in the country wherever I am. Sure we do things slightly differently, but that's about it.

There isn't some deep chasm of a difference to the point I cannot relate/connect.

Neither black or white americans are a monolith.
I have very little shared culture with a cac who grew up in idaho. we probably didn't even watch the same tv shows growing up
I get the gist of the argument but the U.S is huge geographically with many regional cultures on top of the racial aspect

End of the day I feel like black americans are on an island. american cacs would probably say our culture is not similar to theirs and try to stereotype it as criminal and "ghetto". Africans might say we have NO culture and don't know who we even are. fukk everybody really, it's us against the world if we being real

Your post was a lazy copout. As soon as you dismissed my point and conflated it with wanting to be white (untrue), it got written off as unserious or trolling.
There's what you said, and then there's the bullshyt yall have been on? Do I actually need to pull up the COUNTLESS threads? :sas1:
Remember when they got you b*stards so hyped up yall were protesting MOVIES in person over the lead role???

But NOW you wanna say the fetishization is true :dead: Maybe you should clarify cause its looking like an about-face.

Your posts are just red-herrings and pretty irrelevant to what Yvette said and what I posted.

Fetish as in "an object of irrational reverence or obsessive devotion."

That doesn't mean you throw your culture away. You can still protect and gatekeep your culture.

Why wouldn't be closer culturally to White Americans? We've only been in the same country for centuries. Have families who were in wars together (albeit treated differently) I'm sorry I'm closer culturally to some White Southerners than I am to some brother in Kenya :russ:

I feel people would only do this with Black Americans by the way.

No one would bat an eye if a Black Dominican, Jamaican, Belizean, Brazilian, Puerto Rican, Costo Rican, etc, shared more in common with their countryman regardless of race than they do with someone deep in Africa

Yes, me and Chad in Apartment 3C both have an affinity for Football Sunday, Soul Food/Southern Food, Seafood Boils and Boxing, Baseball and old school American muscle cars.

I'm sorry that I share more in common with him than Gasimba the Hutu brotha from Rwanda.

But that is true for everyone. We all share more in common with our countryman than other people. It only offends yall when it comes to us though.

This is why I don’t take FBA/ADOS seriously

Delusion is one helluva drug. A typical white American would rather identify and is more sympathetic to a poor white south African or with Ukrainian Nazis than with any black person.

They have nothing in common culturally either. Every black American music like Rock and Jazz was called "jungle" music until whites could appropriate it as their own somehow. The " I hate rap but I listen to Eminem" type .

As others have said, these cracxas deep down think your place is in Africa not in "their" America. That's how the country of Liberia was founded.
A lot of people seem to conveniently forget that Abraham Lincoln was a supporter of the American Colonial Society. If it was up to him, he would have sent back every black and mixed-race person back to Africa without a second thought. Lincoln already stated that if he could have preserved the union without ending slavery, he would have but I guess it's about the result and not the intention.

"What is black culture? What differentiates black culture from the larger white culture... Screw your culture" -- Cause people were making memes on Black vs White Thanksgiving meals

ALLLL THE SMOKE in the world for Black immigrants over trivial shyt like movie roles but she found compassion in her heart to work for an AVOWED White Nationalist? :comeon: Pan Africanism/collabing with the diaspora is the devil incarnate but she can work with THIS man??? :comeon:

Yvette's not sufficiently Black ethnic to have unwavering loyalty to Black people..many of these 50/50 Black/ White mixes arent in this for what you think..to her this is just a meal ticket, as she has proven where her loyalties truly lie. Same applies to Tariq.
