Indonesia has the most Muslims.... They've elected a women as President. There are some villages that go hard on hoes, but overall they are on track with the world with how they treat woman.

The US hasn't has a female Vice President or President.... These are many Muslim lands that elect women to all positions included the top ones; I listed those three because they are the 3 most populous Muslim Lands.

Sure there are some crazy rules in Islam because certain groups do things different ways - and this is based on that national history and local culture, Not based on the Quran. The fifth Most populous Muslim nation - Egypt... has AT LEAST 1/3 women in it's parliament at all times. I'm not sure on the numbers but we've never had more the 20% representation in our congress and senate.

We gonna pretend that right here in America there are forced prostitution and sex slavery in mass. We're gonna pretend that our national Orthodox Jew populations are doing the forced marriage thing or that lil girls haven't always been raped in Utah and surrounding states?

Billions of Muslim families allow education and freedoms, but all we talk about is rare cases in HL like we don't know that 'secondary' sources of Islamic law vary from nation to nation village to village.... This is the world we live in ... and extreme poverty and ignorant leads to ................ WHAT the hell do u think?? the Islamic laws in those areas are adjusted to fit the culture that would already be there without Islam.

All over the world women are being circumcised, not allowed to hold office, not educated, oppressed, raped and enslaved..... but We don't even care, we'd rather not donate to any cases, not do shyt but diss Muhammad and pretend that social norms were the same in 600 as they are in 2013

I don't really live an Islamic lifestyle, but I've spent a total time of 4 years in Islamic nations... It's not like you all make it seem from your laptops. There are some things that do carry over to outside the mid east though....... Women aren't usually respected as much as men... but that goes for most of Europe and Africa as well. In the US I see that some of the rules carry over tho. There isn't usually any real oppression, but families make choices for the young ladies. But the young ladies are taken care of. In Dearborn (where most US Muslims live by far) I see these chicks living the life... and the white and black chicks around here are constantly hating on them, claiming them hoes don't deserve it...... But they do deserve if for wearing the head scarf and for being righteous. shyt, That's just the trade off. My ex, even tho we broke up... i still hit her will a life. She's good No Matter what.... It's just what it is.... and Islamic law to take care of the woman. Cultural shyt only gets fukked up in the MOST remote impoverished lands on or planet.

That's what I wonder too. Except Muslims don't believe in original sin. Before the advent of Islam, their last prophet stopped the Quraish from burying their daughters alive, but with Islam women aren't allowed to leave without a non-mahram (kin that you can't marry) along with a whole slew of other "women should be confined to their house" rhetoric. I honestly don't think it's that bad, it just depends on where you go and what country you're in. Some tend to be more strict than others. It's all up to interpretation.

Currently Egypt is worse than most of the Arab world... It's because of a bunch political shyt, but I'm not gonna get into that....

In ancient times... Well , as you see I put 'the West' and Asia. Egypt is in Africa... and African shyt varied. ... in Ancient times.... I guess they were considered 'equal' but in most cases they weren't when it came to how their families dealt with them..... Long before Islam or any of the religions we love to clown, the women in Ancient Egypt couldn't just go out and do shyt with out male family. They were equal in marriage, technically.... But they had to depend on men for everything and the trade off was just like it is now... the Men Had to take care of them.

I don't know if the people in here are trolling or not, but I don't actually believe that they think Islam is responsible for most of the shyt they don't like. And just like other ancient lands.. and modern Islamic (i pointed out above) and non islam lands..... even when women are lower in society, Woman leaders have always been considered equal... while the low classes are considered lower regardless of sex.
