There is no clear 100% consensus on exactly every nation that is considered part of the middle east. But Egypt is commonly thought by most to be part of the middle east. That is a fact.

That is why every single reference, be it a dictionary, encyclopedia, or reference book says it's part of the middle east. There's nothing to debate here.

Let's be real though...you, and the idiot Van Taak both somehow thought "middle east" and "Africa" were mutually exclusive. That's why your first post said "What continent is Egypt on?" then you quickly edited it.

Nice argument.

What is wrong with y'all? :mindblown: I post links from dictionaries and encyclopedias calling Egypt part of the middle east, and people are still like "No it isn't." :dead:
you fool did you even read your own links? it states that during WWII and the Israeli wars the reason they lumped Egypt into the M.E category were for military operation purposes. ei the Suez Canal operations. However, in this day and age, right now, 2013, we consider Egypt, Africa (thus my question).

  1. that doesn't make any sense.

Do you know what "Standardize" means?
    stand·ard·ize
    ˈstandərˌdīz/
    verb
past tense: standardized; past participle: standardized
    1. 1.
cause (something) to conform to a standard.
"the editors failed to standardize the spelling of geographic names"
synonyms:systematize, make consistent, make uniform, make comparable,
Actually it makes perfect sense

using only one dialect would mean it's standardized.... If I use Qurayshi dialect for all my Quran's instead of Dialects used in Persia and Yemen how does that not make sense to you?

:snoop: Egypt is both part of Africa and the middle east dummy. That's what you so ignorantly failed to wrap your head around and still continue to.

You and Van Taak. Both of you dummies were like ":dwillhuh: But Egypt is part of Africa?" You failed to realize that the middle east region is not confined to the Eurasian land mass.

Would you like me to link yet another encyclopedia that calls Egypt part of the middle east?

http://www.encyclopedia.com/topic/Middle_East.aspx

The Middle East is that part of Western Asia extending from the eastern Mediterranean coast of Turkey and Syria, through the desert to Iraq and Arabia, and to the East through Iranto the Caspian, the Caucasus, and the Black Sea. Into Africa, it includes Egypt, and, by some accounts, Arab North Africa.

you're conforming to using the same dialect that was used orally and not having it written down in your dialect and distributing that in your region. Uthman was the caliph so it was his duty to make sure things would remain uniform .

Let them tell you 2 + 2 = 5 brehs :laff::laff::laff::laff::laff::laff::laff:
It's an arbitrary distinction, idiot. It's not based on continental land masses. That's why you guys sound so ridiculous. Based on that arbitrary distinction, Egypt is part of the middle east. That's why when you look up the middle east in the dictionary or google it,it says it includes Egypt. I can't believe I'mhaving this conversation. It's like I'm talking to 6 year olds. :heh:

It's doesn't have to be arbitrary, though. You'd be better off just stating that it's part of the Middle East culturally than some White man's decision to place Egypt there geographically when I can look at a fukking map with my own two eyeballs.

:snoop: That wasn't an encyclopedia or food and culture, that was a linked subheading. The article was from encyclopedia.com

If you try and question sources, you will not win because every dictionary and encyclopedia you can find will say Egypt is part of the middle east. The reason is that Egypt is in the middle east. :dead:

You are ignorant because you think thought the middle east was defined by continental land masses, but in reality, it's an arbitrarily defined region.

You're wrong...you lose. It's over. Time to stop posting.

so then the most current definition which is on the CIA website is taking an L is what youre saying?

and no. what you linked was defining the cultural (and food) similarities within a region. If you noticed the map also includes Ethiopia and Somalia. both of which are not in the M.E either. sigh.

so what are you making uniform? :usure:
LOL breh you can nitpick all night... you know what they're making uniform... they're making sure that when it's written down it's in the same type of arabic as the original oral version. Shakespeare is in olde english and we still read it that way for the most part.
