the people that act like they are somehow better or more deserving (college education, "hard work", etc.) of certain pay scale than someone they feel is "under" them is exactly why America will continue to be divided and collapse.

I'm not against CEOs making money.

You'd make a better argument if you suggested that the workers make more AS WELL.

Talking about CEO pay misses the issue.
How valiant of you. Cause imagine if he only had half that to spend. Poor guy would quit over night or run the company into the dirt.

I think it is quite a valid point when discussing Corporations who pay minimum wage. Treat the tops like Kings and pay the people who make your corporation function pennies. They don't even try and act like they give a fukk.

I'll put it too you this way, i was somebody who believed that every person in a good paying job is worthy of it, after becoming an adult you see the opposite. I see those who are 40-50 working less than i did when i was 10 years old doing farm work. I see old men and woman sitting.....all day.......reading excel documents and making phone calls, and actually calling that work... i see people come in from doing 2-3, 1 hour meetings, and being completely exhausted, pretending as if they just climbed mount everest, for a young person like me, who does that type of physical activity in the morning........................before i even get to work......................it's hard to actually agree that a teenager wouldn't be worth 15 dollars an hour. The reality is your 10 dollars an hour isn't enough, and if you can't afford to pay more, you would definitely have to call it a day in business. I think the small business excuse is lame, lots of the time it seems like somebody who is doing pretty damn good for themselves, who just doesn't want to fuk that up, well you don't always get your way. Also how long are you planning on paying somebody 10 dollars? Do you not give raises? Do you expect somebody to work with you for years and STILL pay them 10 dollars? Also, why does owning a small business entitle you to be banking money? It seems like every business owner in general feels that they have some god given right to be banking money like a CEO just because they own a business.

I don't hate small business but regular citizens shouldn't be sacrificed just because a dude who runs a small business can't afford it, they should lobby to get pay regulation or something, like if you're business makes such and such workers can only be payed such and such, that way a guy who does plumbing or something can still do that, and the people hording money into their gullet at wallmart can come off some of that and pay people.

This is just silly. My guess is, while you say you're an adult, you're probably between 18 to 23. You don't strike me as someone with any real life experience.

I employ one person who was homeless prior to asking for a job and now has a roof over his head. Thank you for informing me that my several dollars above the federal minimum wage isn't enough, friend. I employ another person who couldn't find a job anywhere else because of a non-violent felony a decade ago. I guess I should call it a day, however, since the infancy of my business cannot sustain an extra $40,000 in expenses for the year. You're also right that I don't deserve the money I make. Should I cap my earnings, since all of my employees could be easily replaced, while none of them could do what I do? Is there a maximum allowable amount I should make as a small business owner that thinks I have a "god given right to be banking money like a CEO"? (Hint... typically, if you own a small business, you're the CEO)

What industry are you in? And yes, your answer influences my next set of questions or statements.

I buy truckloads of liquidated retail items for resale, auction off business assets, and do estate sales.

So you are admitting you hate your employees, they were homeless etc. before you graced them with a 10 dollars an hour job, they definitely rolled and landed on free parking.:russ:

I did not say you don't deserve it, i said you shouldn't automatically feel you deserve to be banking just because you own a business. And you pretty much summed up what i mean, you trash your employees and then say you buy truckloads of liquidated items, really? A child could do that, and you are Mr. Skill? You proved my point. You resell items and pretend like you are more skilled than a homeless person, really?:pachaha:

So for people who support this. . . who are you? Are you someone who dreams of a utopia, but has never worked with someone who truly deserves the minimum wage for their level of ability? Are you someone with that low level of ability who embraces the American entitlement dream where your meager ability merits more money? Are you someone who only associates business with major corporations and because you see the CEO of Wal-mart making crazy money, you assume small businesses can afford to nearly double the hourly wage for employees with only the most basic of abilities?

I own a business with four full-time employees, who I pay $10 an hour to do low-level tasks and they even struggle with those low-level tasks. If I was forced to pay those guys $15 an hour, those four people would be out of a job and I would call it a day on the business.

:shaq2:

If your business can't adapt in the new market climate maybe you should close up shop and allow more young bootstrap pullers to take your place with good old American innovation. Capitalism. :smugfavre:

like others have stated the backbone of american jobs, the small businesses will be greatly affected by this

like almost all liberal policies, unintended consequences always outweigh the positives

I can't take you or anyone who daps your post seriously when you minimize what I do without having the slightest idea of what goes into the business. Notice how you only picked out one part of what I said I do? So if I'm making pretty good money and it's so easy a child or homeless person could do it... why aren't they?

What is it you do?

Yeah, I should definitely learn to adapt, so I can reduce my profit by $40,000 to help people who can't walk and chew gum at the same time buy more weed to smoke before work.

:mjpls:

I refuse to believe anyone supporting these minimum wage increases has ever tried to hire a minimum wage employee.

I think you're gonna start seeing a whole lotta Mexicans up in Seattle now. Curious to see how this goes. Now NY needs to follow suit, because it's way more expensive to live there compared to Seattle.

So you admit to hiring bad employees? Your business deserves to fail right there. You hire the worst to pay them cut rate wages then complain about the quality of the work. :mjlol:

I realize that

buy I'm not paying 5 bones for my mcchiken :to:

There's already been studies done on the cost impact of a wage increase and it was pennies, mere pennies. So if your McMeatParts went up $4.00 then that is the company raping your ass in a clown costume.
