"I look forward to Corporations and Big Business actively sabotaging and undermining this wage raise so I can come in here and talk about the free market in the most naive manner possible. "
Again this has nothing to do with the "free market", but corps sabotaging the raise is an interesting idea. How would they do this?:ld:

I repeat, stay on topic and move away from ad hominem attacks. I can already see this diverting there. FYI, using a personal anecdote as somehow representative of society at large without sources to back it up is a weak argument. Second, if this thread is still going on when I get off work, I'll add on to the discussion of wage disparity. But the point of contention is people looking at the wage disparity and advocating for higher wages vs. those saying some business can't afford it (which is true). But what this really speaks to is a gap in our labor laws and the inability of individuals to collectively bargain across industries and within organizations. Neither side is evil in pointing these out.

These small businesses hurt most by this make up the majority of all businesses . In fact I'd be floored if these evil corps referenced throughout this thread made up 10% of all business's in this country.
Moreover, its the big corps they are targeting that will cut workers, and pass cost on to consumers in order to maintain the same profit margin.
The little guys are fukking over themselves.

McDonalds and Starbucks franchises won't be on every damn corner due to lower profit margins and mom + pops can fill those niches

Yeah, I take it you don't understand how CEOs work.

Leaving banking out of this.

Just about every F1000 company is run this way.

CEOs are paid because of what it takes to retain talent and reward talent.

What company you work for......??? And how many stock options do you have?

On the other hand, those startups might not even get off the ground due to operating costs.

This helps small business lessen turnover and create tenured workers rather than have a revolving door of workers coming and going.

Good. Employees are being overworked and underpaid at levels never seen in this modern era. The upside down pyramid pay scale needs to crumble. The small businesses will have to learn efficiency skills.

The same Walmart that "loans" employees money to eat aka modern day indentured servitude Wal-Mart to Offer Payday Loans to Employees - The Daily Currant :rudy:
Yes that wal-mart.
Do you think the AA community benefits more from having wal-mart or mom and pop stores? and if so why?

Back on topic: The CBO predicted a 500,000 job loss with a raise to $10.10... Do you guys cheering this $15 raise have any idea what kind of job loss numbers you would be looking at?
