This is interesting and brings me to something Booker said recently about Lashley and potentially him going back to the background.

“No one can be up, over, and on top all the time”

Sky was one of the champs comings coming out the gate and one of the FIRST champs in the company. Also back then a lot of the guys in the forefront now was more or less in the background then.

So how do you bring up new stars when you keep the same guys in the main spotlight?

Also how do you keep someone constantly over without burning them out to the masses and making them feel old, dull, and dated?

Honestly, if this is Sky's best promo, as I've seen people call it around the internet, then he's hopeless as a top of the card guy. This is just average.

They've been trying to get this guy to connect on his own on and off for 2 years at this point, and it's not working. Ethan Page has had more quality promos in 6 months than Sky has had in that time frame. If they're really gonna go all in on him this time, they have to keep Lambert with him, since his promo skills will cover up for his deficiencies in that area (I have no earthly idea why so many fans hate Lambert's mic work. He's awesome as the Jim Cornette analogue that will inevitably eat shyt in the future). Page doesn't need it as much, but Sky just isn't a believable promo, much less a believable intense promo.

It's telling to me that he's been in two three man stables over AEW's existence and he's felt like the third most important guy in both of them...one of those stables included Frankie fukking Kazarian, by the way. Jade Cargill's a much better promo and TV presence than him and she just started wrestling a few months ago, that's kind of damning in my eyes.

I dunno. I'm just not seeing it here.

It seems like that’s not his style of promo at all. He’s more than likely one of those cool and calculated dudes forcing himself to be angry.

Him trying to shout during this is a bit of an issue. If I spent 19 years being overlooked my rage would be so contained and consentrated that id speak more like an Arn Anderson than a Samoa Joe. Composed but over it.

Its one thing someone like Batista always got right. Dont over play it. Just state youre going to rip someones head off, have the angry facials then go do it.
