NO he didnt. and what does it mean to "SOUND" authentic? Cube never said he was a real crip or blood(thats the gangs we had out in LA). he said he was a Nucca with an attitude. Just a random nucca in the hood trying to get from the gas station to his chicks crib in the projects to chrenshaw back to ruthellen. and he told you what he saw and had to deal with making those daily moves. It was 100% authentic because it was REAL. again, i would know. i lived here during that era. what face did was take it to an even darker place at times. but little did we know back then thats because face himself was dealing with depression(check the record on face).

To me he did, with Cube felt there was some acting going on there, good actor, didn't feel he was gangsta like that ever, but a very good rapper and actor. Face always felt more authentic to me in every way, I never got that vibe from Cube, don't mean he's p*ssy at all, and I still fukk with Cube and his music but Face in that realm is 1 of the realest to me.

Damn to hear face give praise to somebody else is rare..its usually the other way round, but this is rakim the god..the greatest emcee dead or alive!

not true, he always gives props to others, as much as they give it to him...

as for the vid: that's cool shyt...2 (3 since he mentioned kane) of the greatest to do it...i wouldve loved to been at that show...

another thing that makes ra that dude: he didnt cuss in his music...that shyt is an amazing thing to me, especially figuring people cuss so much in rap you think it's just a prerequisite to a rhyme...

This is why shyt like unabashed regional bias is really stupid. Real recognize real, and real don't judge off location. A wise man once said... "It ain't where ya from, it's where ya at"

Wonder who said that..........

Lol.

the only legend from the south that transcends region

not true....outkast transcends region too....i do agree the list is short, but that goes for every region though......because it's hard to get on that legend list....

nope. he wasnt acting. everything cube talked about was 100% real. even when he was being comedic. sure he was being funny and real at the same time.
....Just waking up in the morning gotta thank God
I don't know but today seems kinda odd
No barking from the dogs, no smog
And momma cooked a breakfast with no hog
I got my grub on, but didn't pig out
Finally got a call from a girl want to dig out
Hooked it up on later as I hit the do'
Thinking will i live another twenty fo'
I gotta go cause I got me a drop top
And if I hit the switch, I can make the ass drop
Had to stop at a red light
Looking in my mirror not a jacker in sight
....

Explain to me what part of that piece of It was a good day is in accurate? was it funny? YEP. was it super dark? NO. but was it REAL? YES sir.

nuccas was getting jacked so much in the 90's every time you were stopped at a red light, you looked over your right and left shoulders, looked at all 3 mirrors. checking angles like a hawk trying not to get caught SLIppin. and thats for gangstas, thugs, and just regular brehs hanging out. It was a tough time in the 90's to just chill without thinking about some fool or the police catching you slippin.

The 90's was when a lot of us became aware of "maybe we shouldnt be eating all that pork" whether you were muslim or not. Its not that other people were not up on it. Its that a lot of people knew about it at this time. not just some old heads. but youngins too. because of the NOI's presence in the community. Its like you see turkey burgers every where nowadays. but i still remember my mother was the first black person for 100 miles of the hood that cooked ground turkey back in the early 90's, late 80's. white folks been up on that. now you see it in the hood like its beef. no big deal.

again. you're confusing being darker as being more REAL. face was darker then cube. but face was also depressed(he said this himself). so of course he would be darker.

never even really thought about this. it proves a point he's a REAL LYRICIST. you know when some school teacher or old head would catch you cursing as a kid. and they would be like people curse who dont know any other words to use. basically saying your vocabulary is lacking. Not for Ra.

yep, that shyt is amazing when you think about it....

to add to the amazement of ra: the man rhymed fast as hell over some extremely uptempo beats, and every word was crystal clear....

now that clarity was something every mcee had to do back in the 80's. you will notice something. i think its because it was white people at these labels trying to get hood nuccas use to putting out music that white people will also purchase. meaning "we can't understand what you guys are saying, can you enunciate that a little better" So notice all the old school rappers even the ones with lisps etc(kool g, eric sermon). still spoke clearly. unlike nowadays where people rap in their regular street voice.

I don't agree. I'm not saying he never spit any real rhymes at all, just Scarface made more hood music, I'm talking strictly in that sense.

that mightve been the case with the people at the label....i would hope it was more to the upbringing at home...i know 1 thing my mom stressed growing up was always speaking clearly so people could hear and understand you....
