Say what you want about Cole apologizing, he still had the best verse of the year by far

I may need to think about it more but I wanna say my favorite Cole verse during his recent rappity rap exercise era was on the Gang Starr record.

Evocative and introspective while also doing all the lyrical miracle shyt you guys cream over. And despite all that Lupe, and Kanye had better verses touching on very similar themes with far less complex rhymes. With far more conviction and emotion in their rhymes. Point being rappity rap shyt is not the S-Tier of rapping in my eyes and never will be. If it was yall need Jaz-O and early Jay higher on your lists. Not happening? Thought so. I seem to remember another rapper saying something about this.....

I know some rappers using big words
To make their similes curve
My simplest shyt be more pivotal
I penetrate the hearts of good kids and criminals
Worry some individuals that live life critical
So won't you bare witness while I bare feet
So you can walk in my shoes and get to know me

lol I swear it came to me towards the end

I forgot to mention the last two tracks on Off Season come to mind too as his best shyt of this era.

On this one his has some actual emotion in the rhymes and there's nothing complex about it. Just dope, personal rhymes. These tracks I've mentioned are just more impressive to me than the brag raps. Not that I dislike brag raps, I just think he has some of the weaker ones out of notable rappers. Cole has always been better at rapping his perspective on shyt and sharing his story. I have a feeling Might Delete Later could be the last rappity rap brag rap exercise he does. Not even due to the end of the rap battle for him...I just think he deliberately separated that shyt from whatever The Fall Off will be, conceptually.
