You know...I could be off and take it for what it's worth, but I've always figured that the idea of collaborating competitively on the same beat with other rappers makes Kendrick anxious or uninterested.
After all of the "Control" hoopla, I figured Kendrick would have proceeded to go on the kind of run that Cole went on the past few years where he'd get on a beat with the guys he'd named and "destroy" them with everyone bringing their best...but you never really see Kendrick spar with respected lyricists in his peer class outside of the OCCASIONAL TDE collab and it's even been a long-time for that.
Even when he and Cole did the one-for-one, they just did separate tracks on one another's beat. A great showcase of skill, but no "who bodied it" opportunity.
It's actually been my one gripe with Kendrick from "Control" throughout this beef. For a guy who champions hip-hop and the competitive spirit so much and seems to be angry at what an artist like Drake is doing to the legacy of it, he had a lot of time and opportunity to grab the torch and go bar-for-bar with Gibbs, Benny, Tyler, Vince, Cole, Meek,
3K...I mean, Nas did THREE King's Disease albums...
