He hosted one of the late night shows before.
He also does a role on one of the soap operas.
Was in creed with MBJ/Majors

I mean this in the most respectful way possible but fukk outta here with this bullshyt. A cameo or guest spot isn't an indication that people care about you it's an indication you're well connected.

Is any other network offering SAS half of what ESPN did? Fox News? Let him go do it.

He also had a best selling book
Bestseller as far as the publishing industry is a largely meaningless term. It's not like going platinum where it's always a million records (sold or inflated). The month his book dropped it could have sold the most copies by a black sports personality over 50 and then been labeled a best seller. Even though it sold like 1 100th of l50 shades of grey or whatever. Not all best sellers are created equal not to mention the shady shyt they'll do to inflate sales.

A well-known ESPN TV personality could be poised for a reunion with the network.

Michael Smith has held “exploratory talks” with ESPN, sources tell Front Office Sports.

The former co-host of The Six, which was ESPN’s 6 p.m. SportsCenter with Jemele Hill, has talked with executives about possibly returning to ESPN on the news/SportsCenter side, say my sources.

The 45-year-old Smith recently wrapped up a four-year run co-hosting Brother from Another with Michael Holley on Peacock. In 2023, the former Boston Globe reporter also scored a high-profile job as a news analyst for Amazon Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football coverage while launching the Inflection Network with iHeart.

My FOS colleague Ryan Glasspiegel broke the news that ESPN will cancel Around the Horn in 2025 after a 23-year run on TV. Could Smith be part of a new weekday show in that show’s old time slot? We’ll see. Smith might not be the only famous ESPN alumn who could return. The sports media giant is also open to a reunion with Bill Simmons, according to Glasspiegel.

Smith could not be reached for comment. ESPN declined to comment.

Would be a step down for him from where he was previously, but a job nonetheless.

Wouldn’t shock me if Michael Smith just wants stability. Get back to ESPN, do appearances on shows like Get Up, NFL Live, Around the Horn til it’s done this year, SportsCenter, maybe First Take in the offseason.

Next thing you know he becomes a fixed personality on a show and his profile gets back to where it was while being there for another 5-10 years.

Hope it works out. I was always against him and jemele moving to SC, but I really hated how his career got derailed from their bad ratings & Jemele’s antics

Exactly. He tried to do his own thing and it didn’t work out. Ain’t mad at him for saying let me reset my career and navigate the new sports climate.

Yeah his profile fell tremendously after leaving ESPN and going to peacock. I always forget he and Michael Hollie show was a thing...until it got canceled.
