I think ESPN is finally being forced to pay a lot more competitively in some areas of the biz. They’ve had a stranglehold on it and dictated the market for so long, but things are changing and there’s been a ton of employee turnover because other emerging media entities are paying much better (Spotify, betting, working remotely, satellite offices in big metro areas, etc.).
A lot of times, ESPN employees begin their careers in Bristol making a shytty entry-level wage/salary in Connecticut. So once they open up that low, moving around internally costs them several thousand because they were so low to begin with.
