How can someone retire from ESPN, if they’ve only been there for 10 years :patrice:

Seems like it’s a situation of where they chose not to renew her contract or she’s leaving to go work for The Ringer full time.

Shes probably retiring from the industry, ESPN was just her last stop

I'm not exactly sure about that :patrice:

She's been working for both ESPN and The Ringer for the past year. The only other personality they do that (Ryan Russillo) ended up leaving ESPN to go to The Ringer full time. That's why I'm questioning the authenticity of this retirement.

Guess we'll know the real answer to the question if/when she shows up on a podcast with Simmons or Richard Deitsch to talk about it like other former ESPN personalities have been doing.

i see what you’re saying. She might be saying “retiring” so it doesn’t sound like she was let go.

Getting to that time of the year again where ESPN lets a bunch of folks go as we get closer to and into the fall.

Jackie is probably retiring from writing. She was a Senior Writer for ESPN. She don't feel like doing these assignments that require her to travel anymore.
ATH and The Jump were just secondary to her real job at ESPN.
She can do The Ringer from her basement in Boston.

There’s no set time you need to be at a company to retire..when you decide to retire, you retire from whatever company you’re at whether you’ve been there 2, 6 or 20 years

Edit: you don’t need to be 65 to retire either. Only thing tied to age in retirement is when you can withdraw from your 401k/ira without penalty and start collecting social security. Someone making her money doesn’t need to work until SS age
