5 milly is alot to turn down especially in this climate and what's going on at ESPN..
I like her and wish her well..hopefully she didn't oversell herself and fumble the bag and will use the sexism, racism role if she doesn't get another big offer..

She can’t use those excuses this time seeing as everyone at ESPN is having to take paycuts or leave money on the table. I think this is like the 3rd? paycut that ESPN has asked their talent to take since the pandemic, so there’s no way that she’ll getting that $5 million dollar offer again ESPN or not.

COVID-19 losses and sports rights negotiations got Disney telling ESPN to watch what they spend lol.

Why do these ESPN broads get their heads blown up like they're worth as much as :comeon:

Every single one of them broads that get the big head end up falling flat on their ass

And you can tell they're all just so jealous of Stephen A. too. :russ:

Remember Cari Champion?

Dana Jacobson?

Michelle Beadle

Even Molly gets out of pocket some times.

Love or hate Stephen A., but since he got the rub from Skip Bayless, he's be the only thing keeping the lights on on that network.

Nobody should be making half of what he's making:yeshrug:

At this point, it doesn’t really matter what her peers are/we’re making before as ESPN is trying to correct the problem that they created by overpaying talent in the first place.
That may be true about overpayment, but her negotiating play can’t take ESPN’s fiscal initiatives into account, she can only think about what her worth is amongst a class of similar employees….

And
let’s not pretend, there’s a lot of feminism goin on with this, “pay me as you do the men”, I “support u.s. women’s soccer” type shyt goin on….. this likely has layers

Other ESPN employees are having/have had to take a paycut and/or leave less money on the table. Look at the recent ESPN departures in this thread and the reasoning of why they left. Disney isn't letting ESPN just spend bread like they used to hence the reduction in employees salary. Even SAS and Greeny more than likely have had to take paycuts during the pandemic, so her being offered less bread isn't surprising. This has been the new norm for them going back since at least Nolan and Bomani agreeing to new and reduced deals. She should have just taken the $5 million when it was offered as now the pandemic is going to cause her to get even less. Remember, ESPN has to do what Disney says.

There isn't any feminism in this situation. She isn't the pop culture figure nor drives in the viewers the way that SAS does to justify SAS type money. The only other person even close to that is Greeny and even then there's a huge gap between him and SAS.

Maria Taylor is boring. If she leaves ESPN they would easily replace her. ESPN is using that Monica McNutt woman alot more.

Yep I notice that

She's been on first take and around the horn
She's sharp. I remember her from when she was hooping at G-town, and she was always an engaging, interesting interview. Really charismatic.

Yea ok… why you think jalen rose told her she needed a raise on camera, him and her have been some of the biggest proponents of the that exact movement…. I’m not surprised she playin hardball even if she doesn’t have the resume to back it

Jalen Rose can say whatever he wants as he isn't her agent nor the company that will be signing her check in the end, so how can he tell someone else how to spend their bread :russ:

Remember, ESPN is owned by Disney so essentially ESPN has to do what they say. They wanted to bring Jaws back a few years ago after he got laid off and Disney said nahhhhh.

The Land That Time Forgot
Stephen A is the star of the network because of the ratings performance year-after-year for
"First Take." He is a revenue driver because of the advertising he attracts.

Maria is what the industry used to call a "newsreader." She is not at all a personality that drives revenue.

You can play hardball, but remember that the manager can always go to the bullpen to bring in the right-hander.

And coming out of the bullpen, now pitching for ESPN....

I didn’t say jalen was her agent or signed her checks….I just said that he made an “on air” push to support her stance and the equal/competetive pay initiative….. she has stood on this, so she isn’t just gonna take whatever they offer if it’s below par
