At the end of the day, you have to find the routine that works for you. I just can't do those 5 day splits, because going to the gym more than 3x a week becomes a hassle for me.

I think I gotta get off this damn routine. Injuries have become a lot more frequent. Taking time off now for a damn neck sprain :wtf:

Gonna go back to a good old body part split... push, pull, shoulders, legs. I think hitting everything 3x a week, even lightly, has been taking a toll. I never had anywhere near this much injury on my old routine. Sucks though cause the gains were :ohlawd: I'm hoping using the 2 sets/exercise on compounds and maybe 3 sets/exercise on accessories will keep the gains coming and minimize injury.

I think I was just stressed last week. Puppy got an injury that was stressing me and wifey out, and I had a really big interview I had to take time off work and fly out for. All that shyt is over and I'm pretty much 95%. Still though I'm gonna switch back to a body part split and cut accessory work in half. The gains on that other shyt were :lawd: but they were hell on my damn joints

I think if I keep the 2 sets/compound lift thing going I will still be able to keep moving. Maybe I can just cut down to 2 body parts a day. I gotta think about this.

New routine is not bad. I gave the other one a truly fair shake (5 months). This one is def way more conventional and hopefully will be easier on the joints.

Tues: Chest/biceps
Thurs: Back/triceps
Sat: Shoulders
Sun: Legs

I think I am going to just try 3 sets on everything again and just go down in weight. I should be able to do 3x10x100 on flat DB bench for example. Been saying it and letting my ego get ahead of me but I really wanna get that mind/muscle connection going. I have it on a few lifts but not everything.

Just gotta eat enough. Back down to ~186

when is the last time you had a significant deload?

if you havent tried them i STRONGLY urge you and others to consider weighted dips/pullups

i got my best results EVER after doing them

i dont even bench anymore :leon:

I deload/do a full break once a month

I had to once the injuries from that last routine started piling up. Every month it was something else

I do weighted dips. Good exercise. I just keep it light now to protect my shoulders. 35-45# plate, lot of reps, no failure.

Tweaked routine so I hit shoulders twice a week. Traps are lookin meek. Still less stuff than I was doing before (3 body parts per day!!!) but enough stuff that I'm minimizing recovery time. I hope this is it.

Feeling a little fat. Only weighed in around 189 though. Thinking to drop weight on errthang again to complete those last sets. Already dropped weight majorly on seated cable rows and slightly on shoulder press. Might have to take bench all the way back to 3x~9x90#/hand (from 2x8x105 at my peak earlier :to: ). Overall though its more compound volume and more intense isolation work, hopefully without all the damn injuries
