I just came back from the ATT store by my house...
I was again offered an S7 Edge as a placeholder and a $25 credit till they get the replacement phones...They said as long at the S7 Edge is returned with no damage it will be an easy swap once the Note replacements get in...They did not tell me when they would get those replacements in but did say "definitely before the end of the month"...
I also asked if this bytch blows up on me I still get a replacement right? They said yes but wasn't sure when I asked about a full refund...So I'm assuming no refunds if it blows up on you...

"The Samsung Galaxy Note7 was off to a great, but a quickly discovered battery defect caused Samsung to issue an unprecedented worldwide recall.
We now hear the replacement stock for Portugal is already on the way and should be ready for exchange for September 19.
The phablet has successfully launched in China and few other markets recently, where Samsung made sure the Note7 units don't pack faulty batteries.
There is some bad news for the USA though. Indeed, the users will have to wait longer for their Note7 replacement because the Consumer Protection Safety Commission must inspect and allow the new units to enter the USA."

We have a case where the phone just exploded during normal use. Kid was just watching videos on it and it exploded

I suspect if the phone heats up it could cause the battery temp to rise and the explosion becomes possible.

OK I've been half-stepping on going ahead and doing this but I think I might drop by my Sprint store and turn mine in. Maybe they got that LG V20 on deck, or maybe I'll just get a S7.

Don't think that was ever the case. Samsung haven't said anything to that effect. Just that there's a battery issue and the device needs to be replaced. If they had removable batteries this would have been a lot easier to sort out.
Horrible. I will definitely wait before upgrading to any phone because of this craziness. Samsung really set their company back with this debacle.
