I wish I would have known this was gonna happen before I sold that S7. I moved my services back to the iPhone 6s and turned the Note7 off like they suggested. I gotta use my $20 Samsung Pay gift card then I'll return it and wait.

I suggest all the other Note7 owners on here return their phones too. Now that the government is involved this could drag on for months before replacement units are available. It's probably not a good idea to use a phone that could spontaneously combust for months while waiting on a replacement. Outside of getting a loaner I don't think carriers and Best Buy are gonna let people walk in months later and exchange.

Ill have the new note when its available...if its that dangerous, ill get a s7 edge for the hold over. I need to have some conversations first.
They changed the loaner phones to the J series. When they thought it was gonna be a week you could get an S7 or Edge as a loaner phone but not anymore.

Breh I was so close from Molly Whooping this cac at Verizon :martin:

I LITERALLY called them before hand and the bytch on the phone told me I can exchange my phone until they get the new ones cuz I knew they was gonna bullshyt me once I got there.

But they talking about we can only exchange for a new phone and never get the Note 7 back.

Then this cac gonna bring up stats talking about 'Well only .000008% of the ones are affected..."

Straight up told him:

Tired of getting finessed by these cacs breh one of these days I'm gonna go the fukk off and end up in jail.

I swear to God if I go in when the new ones come out and they try and say they can't exchange them you'll be seeing me on the News.

All of these stories of y'all having issues in the store have me thinking you all are using Authorized dealers and not corporate stores. Authorized dealers ARE A SCAM and do not operate under the conditions of a corporate owned store. The problem is that Authorized dealers brand themselves as corporate stores so it's hard to tell the difference. But they are essentially private businesses. Make sure you ask them specifically "are you a corporate owned store" and if they say anything other than simply "yes" then they're not. Most will try and say "were corporate affiliated" or something like that.

Man burned after cellphone catches fire inside of his pants

PALM BEACH GARDENS (CBS12) — A man was injured after his cellphone caught fire while in a Costco store.

Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue says they responded to the Costco warehouse located on Northlake Boulevard for reports of a man suffering burns Friday afternoon.

Fire Rescue Chief Keith Bryer said the victim had reported that his phone caught on fire while in his pants-- causing burns to his skin.

A witness tells CBS12 the phone appears to be the Samsung Galaxy Note7, which is being recalled after lithium-ion batteries are overheating and bursting.

I'll figure something out by Monday..I could refund and keep the Note 5 but I really want the Note 7 over any fukking thing.

I'm grandfathered into to T mobile...they'll make concessions to me like they always do.

Went to the ATT store yesterday and was explicitly told they will be restocking next week and all I have to do is bring in my phone...

No box or accessories necessary and they're giving me $25 credit...

They will not be restocking next week. There is no timetable for replacement phones because everything is pending government review.

Samsung tried to circumvent the government getting involved and do this on their own. The government stepped in anyway. That available next week talk was from when Samsung was handling this on their own.

There are people on Reddit saying their replacement phones were intercepted in the mail and rerouted back to Samsung.

Update on the Best Buy situation. They are no longer doing the exchanges for new Notes. If you got it at Best Buy you now have 2 options. Return it for a full refund, exchange it for a different phone with the standard 14 day policy applying to the new phone. If you want a new Note you basically have to return for a full refund and reserve the one of the new phones.
Galaxy Note7 Information - Best Buy
To start your exchange process with Best Buy, visit a store near you and talk to a Blue Shirt. Here are the options they will walk through with you:

  1. Exchange current Galaxy Note7 for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge and replacement of any Note7-specific accessories with a refund of the price difference between devices
  2. Return your Note7 and receive a full refund.
What if I don't want to exchange my Note7?

A: The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Samsung are urging owners to power down their Note7s. Our primary concern is your safety, and we want to help you exchange your Note7 for a new device and at the same time we can reserve a new Note7 for when they become available.

He didn't lie to you. on 9/8/16 they were expecting new Notes next week. On 9/9/16 that changed. Samsung issued an updated statement saying they are now working with the CPSC and there is no timetable for when replacement Notes will be available other than upon CPSC approval.

Feds will formally recall Samsung Galaxy Note 7
Samsung now says new Note 7s will be issued to existing buyers "upon completion of the CPSC process," and neither Samsung nor the CPSC offered a specific timetable beyond "as soon as possible."

When did you talk to the guy at the ATT Store?

This is a fluid situation, and it's changing constantly. Initially the recall was being handled by Samsung, and they probably would have gotten deliveries out next week. But yesterday the CPSC stepped in to take over the recall. Both Samsung and the CPSC are saying there's no official timetable for people to get replacements, which in recall speak means it's going to be a long ass time before they start sending out new phones.

It's worse than that. The CPSC claims some of the phones have exploded during both charging and normal use and they make that exact distinction.
Press Statement from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Regarding the Samsung Galaxy Note7
This consumer warning is based on recent reports involving lithium-ion batteries in certain Note7 devices that have resulted in fires. These incidents have occurred while charging and during normal use, which has led us to call for consumers to power down their Note7s.
before I thought it was just when charging. I'm not gonna have some shyt in my hands and pockets that is known to have a chance to catch fire whenever. When I read that I promptly backed my data up to Samsung's Cloud and turned the phone off. I'm turning it on one more time to use that $20 Samsung pay giftcard then it's going back and I'll sit on the wait-list or whatever.
