Someone locally had their shirt catch on fire in a costco from a phone exploding, they didn't disclose the phone but I automatically assumed note 7 =(

I exchanged mine after I cracked it at work for a galaxy 7. At Verizon they told me I could return the phone when they got the new shipment in so I don't think you have to downgrade

I was pissed when I read it.
In response to our recent announcement regarding battery cell issues with the Galaxy Note7, we are advising that you power down your Note7 and exchange it now, as part of our U.S. Product Exchange Program for all Galaxy Note7 owners. We strongly advise all customers to use this exchange program because your safety is our top priority. Additional sales and shipments of the affected devices have been stopped, but if you already have a Galaxy Note7, we strongly advise that you replace it.

a$$holes. If they had the new phones in to exchange it for I would have already done so. Do they think I like having this shyt charge in a pot so if it catches fire it buys me some time to put it out? These jackasses have their nerve telling you to do something you can't actually do.

I fukking hate Verizon
I think I'm reaching my limit with this bullshyt. The government has stepped in and now the replacement phones have been delayed pending CPSC approval meaning we have to wait even longer to get them now. I was under the impression I could swap this out this coming week. Not anymore.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is assisting Samsung in its recall of the Galaxy Note 7

Unfortunately, the CPSC hasn’t provided a time frame for when it will deliver its decision. We don’t expect it to be any time soon, though, seeing as it took the agency over six months to recall malfunctioning ‘hoverboards’.

Here's what Best Buy had to say about it.
Recently Samsung announced a battery issue with the Galaxy Note7 smartphone. We are working with Samsung to get new Note7s into our stores, and we are prioritizing customers like you who have purchased Note7s from Best Buy. Our primary goal is your safety, and we encourage you to visit a Best Buy to learn more about our exchange program options. Our Blue Shirts are ready to help find the best solution for you. Options include exchanging your current Note7 for another Samsung Galaxy, getting registered for a new Note7, or returning your phone for a complete refund. To make it easy, we have eliminated the restocking fees and extended the return window until September 30, 2016 for any customer who purchased a Galaxy Note7.

Here are a few things you should bring with you:
  • Please bring the Note7
  • Please bring in the receipt if you have it, but if not we will look it up
  • Bring any accessories you wish to exchange
Best Buy won't be getting those new units any time soon now. I have until the 30th to return my phone. I don't want an S7 because I just had one and sold it before all this broke.

I'm gonna get an iPhone 7 and just keep the credit from my return on my credit card and hope within a few months I can get another Note7.
