"BROKE THE GLASS EVERYWHERE"
HOW IN THE HELL WASNT
IT PAYING HOMAGE WHEN THEY
USED THE HOOK WORD FOR WORD
INCLUDING THE "HA HA HA HA" ADLIB?
Because the entire essence and message (no pun) of the song is different.
Devil's advocate for a secthe issue is the producers ain't doing shyt with the samples
they not flipping, looping or chopping shyt
but then again, the audience of today don't care, so im sure the producers and labels like "if they don't care, why should we?"
you can sample a beat from the 2000's or last year, it's not about what you sample, but how you sample it and what you do with the sample.
the lack of creativity among many is what hurting a lot of the music but it's been this way for a long time now
"ain't saying nothing new" - The Roots
Devil's advocate for a sec
They really don't have to do any flipping or chopping. If the songwriting and raps are good then it can work
Kinda like on mixtapes where rappers would take beats and make new songs outta em.
Dont get me wrong though. I prefer if they did stuff like havoc with the white lines bassline and change the whole feel of the sample but shyt could be better than now even if they don't put in that much effort
Well, if they can rap its at least entertaining from that aspectThey could but where’s the fun in that if all they doing is just taking what’s already been used before and not putting their own twist on it?
Take hits from the 80's? But do it sound so crazy?I mean this is what the old heads from the 60s and 70s were saying about hip hop in the 90s....not comparing the creativity in these modern joints with what producers were doing in the 90s, but i mean if you look at what Diddy was doing just looping 80s classics it's just as egregious.
Well, if they can rap its at least entertaining from that aspect
Take game for example. He's rapped over every classic hip hop beat imaginable
That was pretty much the concept of 1992, but that was still a good album cause the bars were there even if the samples weren't tweaked with or chopped something crazy
Right...like it's one thing occasionally remake an old song but even then it was guys taking small local shyt and reimagining it ie I Got 5 On it and Doin' It...but it's so ubiquitous and lazy these days. Sampling a rap beat that already had a sample to begin with is beyond lazy.
ITS NOT THE SAME WHEN ITS
THE SAME GENRE THOUGH....
THATS WHERE THE LAZINESS GETS HIGHLIGHTED.
IT COMES OFF AS A MIXTAPE TRACK
RAPPING OVER OTHER nikkaS BEATS.
PUFFY RAPPING OVER A STING TRACK
IS STILL CREATIVE BECAUSE NO ONE
RAPPED OVER THAT TRACK BEFORE.
RAPPING OVER ANOTHER
nikkaS RAP SONG THO?
