yeah. i sometimes feel like we play into it as well. the black freedom struggle is extremely important, but at times, i feel like they try and shame blacks who dont do issues movies. i remember when eddie murphy was dominating hollywood in the 80's, that was what they used to accuse him of but in realty, eddie was one of the first black actors to just be a regular dude in movies, and not have to be about issues. the issues movies are important, but they shouldnt crowd out other things. a film like coming to america couldnt be made today .

Fam. It sounds terrible.

The choir.

Commons uninspired lyrics on a high school level.

John legend saying again some Ungroundbreaking content to fill space.

The organs and church vibe.

It's a contrived song and sounds terrible.

I disagree. Lyrics are cheesy but it sounds good.

Loved the speech but that unity part had me:mjpls:. The irony is most of those white folks clapping don't give a damn about the struggle, and Patricia Arquette proved my point with her bullshyt speech after the Oscars.

lmao she sounded offended at the black themed oscars. like fukk outta here, it aint just about you, its bout us cac women. we been gave you ya struggle, its our turn :pachaha:

I thought of this cut immediately after I read that dudes post. This really is one of the worst songs and videos ever made.
Let's be real, last Common album worth a damn was Be.

I'll be nice today and let yall say Finding Forever but that's where it stops.

Still happy to see him win though :lolbron:

Wats this i keep hearing bout Ledisi???:mindblown: 1st somethin bout Beyonce now this. Fill me in. I didnt watch the Grammys or this

Ledisi, who plays gospel singer Mahalia Jackson in the Martin Luther King Jr. biopic, responded to the controversy on the GRAMMY red carpet Sunday – and admitted that she “had no clue” why Beyonce was performing it over her.

Meanwhile John Legend, who joins Common later this evening to perform their Oscar-nominated song “Glory,” revealed to ET that Beyonce approached them about singing “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.”

“We were actually approached by Beyonce. She wanted to do an intro to our performance and introduce us," Legend told Kevin. "You don’t really say no to Beyonce if she asks to perform with you."

You gotta be charcoal-black to be considered not mixed in this country? :camby:

you think those people are light by chance? just randomly light? the dad is beige AF, beige as the back of my foot breh. you think people in Africa were beige with minimal melanin pickin cotton?
