Racist ass hollywood. there were actually people cheering and applauding when John legend said that there were black people incarcerated now then there were in slavery as if that was a good thing.

I think they were applauding his honesty like PREACHHHHH!

on another note, its funny people call it black excellence when people of colour win at white award ceremonies that are founded on racism, but don't applaud as loud when people of colour win awards created by black people and aimed at black people i.e bet awards etc
That's because it's understood Black award shows are a reaffirmation of Black excellence. The whole show is Black excellence. But when you're the lone Black person going against a bunch of white entities and establishments and you succeed in the face of all of that and still hold your Blackness up high, that's Black excellence in the face of white supremacy. So if it seems that we clap louder for Black people winning over white people, we are because some of us understand what it means to win at a game where the rules weren't set up for you to participate, let alone win. (Fake coli militant rant over)

Common remembered all those times Oprah shytted on hip hop

yoooooo :wow:

calling it now, there won't be a moment more hip hop than this all year. It's a wrap. You know Common gonna downplay it like "oh I was caught up in the moment and didn't see her hand, I apologize :troll:" but real nikkas gonna know he did that for hip hop
:mjcry:

thrilled that "It's hard out here for a pimp" is no longer only the only acknowledgement of black music at the show. (liked the song but still)

This!!! Im sick of everything being about an issue with us. White folk dont care!!!!!

yeah. i sometimes feel like we play into it as well. the black freedom struggle is extremely important, but at times, i feel like they try and shame blacks who dont do issues movies. i remember when eddie murphy was dominating hollywood in the 80's, that was what they used to accuse him of but in realty, eddie was one of the first black actors to just be a regular dude in movies, and not have to be about issues. the issues movies are important, but they shouldnt crowd out other things. a film like coming to america couldnt be made today .
