I knew a miltary dude who would always complain to me about wanting a better job so he could leave his girl. I asked him why can't you find a better job? I thought nowadays this country did a better job of looking out for soliders as far as getting them employment when they comeback home.

Dude was basically like all that talk about supporting troops is bullshyt.

It really is. I remember having to fight to go to school when I was in certain units. Then I made a connect that got me a sweet gig that I made acquaintances with a lot of movers & shakers who looked out for me when I got out. I've parlayed that into some good paying jobs that allow me to travel. My friends who go out or REFRAD due to strength cuts are struggling big time. It's like I use to tell my soldiers when I was in, "you're nothing but a number to them. You die in combat, they send a pre-signed condolence letter to your parents and before that letter makes it to your folks, your replacement is already there and the cycle continues. Get them for all you can while you're in and make all the connections you can while doing it." Some listened, some didn't
