the louisville metro may be bigger.

Va Beach metro is slightly bigger than Louisville Metro, but the VA Beach metro is more spread out. Both Metros are bigger than SLC, OKC, Memphis, New Orleans and Milwaukee.

The Mayor has been pushing for a team to come here. Louisville has a brand new arena (That's nicer than every NBA Arena besides Brooklyn), but the University of Louisville has a crazy contract with them saying that they get money from ticket sales for ANY event, which would include NBA games. The Mayor is trying to get the contracted changed, but Pitino aint having that shyt. So you can scratch Louisville off the list for the Kings.

Yeah just about any decent sized city is a better option than Vegas.

Vegas has a triple A baseball team and it is second to last in its 16 team league in attendance (only Tucson, AZ is lower). It is getting beat out by cities like Albuquerque NM, Fresno CA, Omaha NE, Reno NV, and, of course, Sacramento CA.

I'm sure the Vegas proponents are going to say that people go to Vegas to party, not to watch minor league baseball and that there are better things to do there, but that also kills their NBA argument. For an allstar weekend or something, Vegas is great, but who's going to be around on a Tuesday when the Hornets come to town?

In other words, it would be like putting pro sports in Florida, except even more pointless.

Las Vegas is bigger :ld:

I did some research & Virginia Beach's metro area is bigger than Charlotte, Milwaukee, Memphis, Salt Lake City, Oklahoma City & New Orleans. I still don't think they should get a team, but they're big enough to support one :yeshrug:

Vegas won't get a professional sports franchise because 1: It's a small TV market, 2: It has no suitable arena for a basketball team or any other team, 3: The anti-gambling policies of the four major sports leagues and 4: Most of the potential fanbase works nights and weekends in the hospitality industry so any games that are played will conflict with the time that people are working, plus the sports team is competing with the casinos in the city, so there is no real guarantee that the games will sell out.

Ma-goofs deny this report but who are they to believe anyway now? If Stern used his power to force Joe, Gavin and George to sell the Kings to Ron Buerkel( The Pittsburgh Penguins owner) , the building of a Downtown Arena would already gone underway in Sac and this would be easily :duck:

These moving rumors have been going around for 20years now. I just swat them like flies.

I live in the United States
Bad move IMO. Salute to 757, but we got a team in DC & Charlotte. No reason for Va Beach to have a pro basketball team

I'm gonna keep it real tho... the DMV does not even recognize the 757
If you asked me what area code 757 is too, I'd be like :dwillhuh:
Yall had stuff like Missy Elliot... uh...other stuff.
But when we say DMV, we not talkin bout yall

With that said, I don't even like the area and I haven't even spent any real time down there to form an opinion.. I just don't like them nikkaz like that.

With that that said, its still all love since we all Va. So to me, giving yall a pro team makes PERFECT sense. Yall deserve it. For too long, Va has been left out in the cold when it comes to Professional teams. Lets name one
If they keep the same name too... man, I could rock the hat or some shyt?
But I'm a Wizard fan. Besides.. this new team could give A.I a chance since thats his home area

Imagine if 7 cities was part of the actual DMV? It'd be the livest place in America. :ahh: Who needs Arlington and Fairfax? :rudy:

I think you've got it backwards. The 757 doesn't want to be associated with the DMV like that.

Yeah I've been to a few games there and it's cool. There are various other factors that affect the attendance (age of the stadium, location of the stadium, weather (115 degrees for a baseball game doesn't = big crowds) but still, Vegas isn't measuring up to the other cities out there.

The Kings sold out Arco Arena for years until ownership gave up and seemed to stop caring about the quality of the team. It's not the most ideal market but plenty of smaller markets have survived with loyal fanbases. It's just crazy that people continue to think that Vegas is this amazing untapped resource of NBA viewers. Tourists are not going to keep a team afloat for 41 games a season. The Friday/Saturday games might have a little potential if the home team is good or if they're playing the Lakers, Celtics, Knicks, etc but the Sunday-Thursday games would always be :sadcam:
