I'm not denying any of that. I'm simply pointing out there have been stretches where OSU was simply a very good program, instead of a top 3 program, and that this has also happened to other top programs. I agree with the money, donor support, etc. OSU should be no less than a top 4 program every year. I also agree that there was NO excuse to lose yesterday.

Who would be your top few choices if Day gets canned?
I'm not on the hiring board and the season is not over, but what clear is Day does not have the map to beating Michigan... so he has to go.

I mean, I'm not sure why we're debating this.

You seem to want us to be content being Penn State status. They don't recruit as well but what does it matter if we end up with the same record as them every year with no B10 titles or Nchampionships?

That acceptance will never happen

I'm not suggesting that Day should keep his job. I believe if he doesn't at least make a natty appearance this year he's probably gone.

Yesterday was the worst-coached OSU game I can remember

I'm only pointing out that there are potential downsides. Some downsides are temporary, vlike losing key pieces of a recruiting class or two, which shouldn't necessarily be the reason you hold onto an underperforming coach. OSU should be recruiting players that want to play for OSU above players that just want to play for Ryan Day.

The worst downside would be firing day for a coach that turns out to be be even worse, gets in over his head, isn't prepared for a high pressure, high exposure job. What if the new coach beats Mich but also goes 9-3 or 8-4 for multiple seasons, missing the playoffs? However, like @Trav said, you can't continue to accept underperformance in order to not take a risk.

I know Day is going to take this blame

But this is totally on Chip Kelly

Downs interception at Michigan 15 yard line and on 3rd and 6 you call a run play against one of the best Dlines in the country and it led to a miss field goal

Then Sawyer intercepted warren and your next possession you decided to run the ball again and force to punt..

Michigan had a injured secondary and you only attack them one drive which was a TD and never did it again

Chip Kelly cost OSU period

Last year it was McCord, this year it was Chip Kelly

Day needs to realized that at OSU, beating scUM is equivalent of winning a chip. You have to be aggressive and go for the kill, scUM wasn't doing much yesterday but Day was so passive and scare to do something wrong that he keep them in the game in order to win. Even if this team get it together and win the ship, there is still going to be a hallow feeling because he couldn't beat TTUN and win the B1G. OSU has standards and we are not going to lower them because he cannot reach them. He likes his 10MM per year salary so he needs to meet the needs for it and right now, he fukking up big time. Just because they may not be a instant upgrade over him available at this time doesn't mean that we shouldn't demand the standards to be meet. He needs to look in the mirror and figure out why he pusses up when those hoes up north play against him. Fukking b1tch :pacspit: :pacspit: :pacspit: :pacspit: !!!

I'll let y'all get your debate on.. but I'll say this.. it wouldn't surprise me if osu goes on and wins the whole cot damn thing. We're a matchup nightmare for them.. but I can't think of anybody (outside of Texas) that can play tough and boring like we do. I think a Texas-OSU game would be high scoring, and I don't see why the bucks couldn't putt it out. :manny:
