ITS OFFICIAL AGAIN! WE DID IT! FELT GOOD AS THE FIRST TIME WE FOUND OUT :ahh:
'Creed' Director Ryan Coogler Tapped To Lead Marvel's 'Black Panther'

In the February issue of Empire magazine, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed “Creed” and "Fruitvale Station" director Ryan Coogler as the film’s director -- which will feature a majority black cast and star Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa. For Feige, he said it is important for the film’s script to reflect the comic’s story of incorporating T’Challa’s origins in Wakanda.

I don't gotta name any directors because I think many talented directors would be capable of pulling this off, if it comes down to one simple thing and that's creative freedom.

Now regarding Hudlin, the bolded is something I agree with because he popularized Black Panther again for modern audiences, largely due to the marriage with Storm but frankly, his run on Black Panther sucked ass. It was poorly plotted, poorly written and not the least bit interesting, and if the book hadn't been handed to Jonathan Mayberry it would've fallen off even faster after the marriage-hype (than it still kinda did). And Hudlin might care, he really might, but that doesn't make him a capable film director all of a sudden either. Because he's not, a capable film director, in any way.

:whoa:Whoaaaa, I had to jump in here.

So you think power and doomwar was good?

Power was aight imho, but doomwar ended up being trash. Mayberry didn't do any better than Hudlin, and strictly off doomwar some can argue worse.

As far as vol 5 arcs are concerned: deadliest of the species (written by Hudlin) >>> power (Mayberry) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>doomwar (Mayberry).

Where are them director names? :mjlol:

He's already written and worked on the character with success. Successfully rebooted and further modernised the character which resulted in the highest comic sales. Along with making a story that was a critical and commercial success (adapted into an animation/show) that can easily be turned into a film/origin adaptation. Most importantly he knows how the character should be presented, along with having a passion for the character.

You will not find a Hollywood director who will talk about the character this way:

Hire this dude to write the screenplay.

I'm not saying Mayberry was some kind of next level writer, but all Hudlin had was some big ideas and no follow-up. Mayberry had to come in to give the book some kind of lifespan.

And beyond the awful editorial interference Doomwar was pretty good actually. Maybe if they had let Mayberry write it, it would've worked out better but as it stands, that's a solid story.
