This is big news. Putin relies on ppl like Schroeder as much as any oligarch. And more importantly is that people like Putin only really listen to men whom they actually respect. He doesn't respect oligarchs bc they only became wealthy bc HE let them. But Schroeder was the leader of the most powerful nation in Europe - a country that has everything Russia dreams of - incredible wealth, dynamic economy, worldwide influence based on financial/political power and not just nukes/natural resources. Schroeder was also key to helping Russia get solidified in Europe.

Nationalizing foreign companies while invading his neighbors and lamenting the fall of the USSR as the greatest geopolitical disaster of all time doesnt seem very menshevik to me tho :jbhmm:

Also, Ive never heard of a broke communist leader before. Ever. Enriching themselves through the government is socialist playbook 101. Even Bernie Sanders got in on that. I know that United Russia is a mixed party tho but this path hes going down is :picard:

He wasn't lamenting the fall off the USSR, he was lamenting the fall of Nicholas II and the Romanovs. :heh:

Putin is absolutely not a communist. He doesn't run Russia like that.

Don’t most of the west see him as a Putin puppet anyways? This can’t be that important

Putin: Soviet collapse a 'genuine tragedy'

Hes not a communist in his economic policy sure but he does love the symbolism and the power begind it, its why he put brought the red star back as an insignia of the armed forces when yelstin disbanded it. I feel like the romanov theory is cap, that boy grew up kgb and he wants that old thing back. And again, nationalizing apple and mcdonalds among other businesses :patrice: not very laissez faire to me

That speech, he was crying about the power.

Right before he invaded Ukraine, breh was talking about pre-1917 shyt and shytted on Lenin and Stalin:
Putin’s Speech Laid Out a Dark Vision of Russian History

He nationalized those things because he wants to make all the money off that

I also will eject here because "he does love the symbolism and power behind it," means you don't know what communism means. You falling for Putin propaganda.

Tell the Cuban he doesn't know what communism means brehs. I lived it, you read about and romanticized it. First thing any Leftist does is nationalize foreign assets and blame it on "war time" policy. Im not gonna respond after this cause its likely to devolve into an argument, so get your last word in cause I dont do internet discussions with vicarious revolutionaries.
