/I'm still monitoring the whole China question a lot, I feel like that's the most terrifying prospect right now. If China actually chooses to arm Russia in any visible way, it could prove difficult for Ukraine to ever expel Russia militarily. Since Russia has over 3x the population and doesn't have to deal with a refugee situation, they're more likely to win a war of straight attrition, or at least make it even more horrifying for the Ukrainian people on the way there.

USA and EU have threatened China so much over it that you have to question, why would they even consider doing it? What do they have to gain? It's not like Russia has much to offer them, and Russia is desperate for trade partners so they have no way to threaten them. So it would seem they have a ton more to lose from US/EU sanctions than to gain from whatever Russia offers. You figure the only reason they would do that would be if they wished to weaken/deplete the West in some serious manner. And that would likely only work in the short term. So why would China want to weaken/deplete the West in the short term? I can't come up with very happy answers.

Anyone heard/have an alternate take on it? Why would China even consider sending Russia weapons, knowing how strong the response will be. Do they just assume they're too big to fail and that the West wouldn't dare sanction them?

Maybe they feel they can bare the cost of having two of their greatest strategic rivals bloody and exhaust themselves

But the USA isn't getting bloody or exhausted. It's just using up some military hardware. Are they hoping for Russia to take Ukraine and then put more permanent pressure on NATO?

Under this hypothetical, I'm assuming a massive escalation in the conflict, shyt gets ugly, possibly turns regional etc.

And somehow China would have to be somewhat insulated from the effects of that

I dunno, that's the only way this makes sense

wait so if businesses have to start protecting themselves then they need to recruit private armies too and then what? russia splits into a bunch of corporate private armies?
You joke but Shoigu is supposed to have its own PMC called Patriot and Timchenko and Deripaska (Russian billionaires) one called Redut.

Last month Ukraine MOD even stated that there were rumors that Gazprom (!!) was looking to create its own.

3 men sent to storm a trench being refered to as a tatical group while only being used as markers for their own military to gague the correct distance to fire artillery good Lord :mjlol:
Following this war, I try not to see things through the lens of a video games because those are humans but they’re practically zerglings. :skip: It’s crazy, rushing into minefield, zeroing artillery on your own men. :what:

And then you see shyt like this and wonder what type of human does this?

Given current conditions on the ground, it would be a big gamble. Russian military leadership is in shambles and morale is in the septic tank at this point.

To use Roulette terms: China would be betting big on 00.

I agree. I dont see an entrance point for them that isn't booby-trapped.

Whichever Russian posted this video was a absolute moron. It's no shock that this is happening, and the video is barbaric. That being said though, Russia is losing... morale is low... and now a video of a man executed ain't going to help one bit.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ukraine is embolden by this guy getting shot, and making them more pissed off when they make a push.

:damn:
There're also videos of Ukrainian Soldiers executing Russian soldiers, what's the big deal :yeshrug:

I don't understand why Zelensky is doubling down on defending this city, if they withdraw too late and get bogged down by mud there's going to be massacre

It doesn't even seems to worth the trade off in casualties

The vast majority of those who aren’t Russian agents see Russia as the aggressor and executing someone on their own soil while they shout their country slogan is going to be prime propaganda material for any army.

This video is already making the rounds with millions of views around the media sphere. Meaning more support and money for Ukraine in a critical time where Russia is losing by your estimates 20-50 soldiers a day to take a city the size of Scranton.

You Putinists really don’t think these things through do you?
