There’s only so many river crossings that can support heavy vehicles and freight.

There’s also only 1 rail line leading down south to the part of Kherson the Russians want to garrison and defend. Once that goes the Russians are going to be logistically split by Melitopol, and probably won’t be able to support each other on either side of it. The little pieces over the past month and a half are adding up to another attack or two
