Definitely some optimism but more so being realistic. Yes, the Dems are weak and all about extending a hand just to show "hey we tried...". I don't think that Cummings is a political mastermind from this standpoint but is following the direction of someone else.
Anyone who has been following this as closely as we have here can reasonably see that there have been too many connections pointed out to be coincidence. The lack of a smoking gun at this time gives the administrations narrative that they're under attack legs.
This won't be a quick process and we won't be given any real hard evidence anytime soon. Public interest is going to play a major factor and they're going to soon lose the interest of a large portion of the public. There needs to be care taken in how things are presented from here on out.
So yes, I believe there are people or an entity pulling back on the message to avoid the public from believing that the media, the IC, leakers, Obama, the Easter Bunny and everyone else is out to get Trump without merit.
