I mean it's not as simple as "hold on the ball too long = you suck" ...although generally holding onto the ball too long is a characteristic of most bad quarterbacks.

Pat Mahomes had one of the longer Time to Throws last season also. Part of that might be that teams are reluctant to blitz Mahomes.
Some other guys that hold onto the ball for a long time can make up for that by running the football (Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen).

The thing is, Russell Wilson isn't a scrambler like Jackson or Allen. Not anymore, anyway.
And I'm not sure if he has the ability to make those creative or magical plays like Mahomes.

At 35 years old, he's going to have to go a bit more into a game manager mode where it's 3 step drops, get the ball out. Or maybe they have him in a ton of shotgun. I suppose if anyone can build a system where he's successful, Sean Payton can do it. And with Denver's elite defense, it's not like they need Wilson to do a lot. You just wonder how much Wilson can adapt this late into his career.

I don't think Wilson will ever be a great QB again. But does he still have something left in the tank? Probably. I say that with optimism that Payton can help him. But I'll be honest, I thought Wilson was a horrible, horrible QB last season.

Everytime they showed Russell with his helmet off,it looked like he was 5 rounds into a boxing match. Its just hard for me to grasp he could be this washed, and look this incompotent so quickly. But maybe its just the fact we all forgot that mobile qb's dont usually make it to 40. People keep talking about him like hes some spring chicken but hes 34. If you look at it,35 probably is around the average fall off for previous mobile qbs. Brady and Rogers got us thinking every qb will last til 40. These guys like Mahommes,Josh Allen,Lamar probably got a good 6-7 years left:francis:. Hopefully Russ can shed that and prove everybody wrong

Russell Wilson has a terrible habit of holding onto the football way too long.

He often makes the offensive line look worse than they are. And he only gave more evidence of this in Denver last season.

If you look at "Time to Throw" rankings on NextGenStats, Wilson ranked 34th among qualified quarterbacks last season.
I'm not denying that stat but there were times when that Seattle line would break a second or two after the snap.

TYRONE GA!
marshawn not the type of dude to give a fukk :manny:

True, but I earned some respect for Russ after finding that out.

And Marshawn is cool with him and hasn't badmouthed him unlike the rest of these goofies who do (he's the one who told the story about the huddle before the play). Russ may be a cornball but he still a nikka. nikkaz love shytting on their own but quiet as a church mouse with cacs.

I know Pete and the GM are probably more so upset with themselves. They ended the Legion of Boom defense and restructured the team to be focused around R. Wilson. The moment he didn't get is way he started to complain. I'm sure they wish they would have handled everything differently.
