He's trying to play like he's 22, instead of playing like he's on the tail of his career, middies and getting to the FT line for easy points would be the formula but he still wants to play 0 to 100 and going nowhere.

I would have thought he would thrive in this offense but he's regressing, grant it, it's only 3 games or so.

Him and Joker may need to do PNR, like him and Steve Adams use to rock back in OKC.

I think at this point, Russ just need to have the ball with the 2nd unit and let the offense play through him. He's not an off-ball player late in his career.
He can’t hit middies anymore and he’s basically a 65% FT shooter since the pandemic. He’s never been a playmaker, he was an assist maker. He can’t space the floor, and he’s not active unless he has the ball in his hand. He’s never been a good defender. He made mean faces and ran fast when eyes were on him, and then KD left him to make him the savior and KD public enemy #1, when even OKC fans wanted him gone until KD left and all of a sudden it was “iN RuSS We tRuST”. Couldn’t even make it out of the first round after KD left until he missed the first 4 games in the bubble.

It’s been time to stop bailing this dude out. He shouldn’t even have an MVP, and he’s not a winning basketball player. Harden averaged 2 fewer rebounds, was much more efficient, and was a much higher seed. nikkas didn’t even get MVP seeded as low as him until mfs hated KD and loved him to spite it. His one Finals series included “The worst basketball I’ve ever seen by a PG”, by way of Magic Johnson who never disses anybody.

Congrats on the empty stats. Just another case of players not being good GMs. nikkas been wanting to play with Russ every yr until they play with Russ. He’s incapable of playing a backseat role because he doesn’t have the skill set or the mentality

Despite his flaws, he is the most revered player in OKC Thunder history (as short as their existence has been though).

Not too many players can make that claim.

Another guy with stats and accolades but wasnt a better basketball player than Paul Pierce.

Yall keep ranking and rating players based off media voted awards.

Even in his prime, all the signs were there. Those of us that had good working vision and watched him play knew he wasn’t a winning basketball player and was living on borrowed because his elite athleticism. And a lot of dudes in this site use to swear by him. Slandering KD any chance they could get.

I’m just a nikka who watched it all up close and had to have too many conversations with OKC nikkas who love the Thunder more than they watch basketball. I had no faith in the Thunder from the day KD left until the day Presti traded Russ and PG and finally got off the treadmill.

Ironically “he trick y’all” applies just as much to him, if not more because of his expectations and accolades :dead:

I’ve been a critic of Russ for his late career effectiveness but the SECOND he retires he’s a first ballot HOFer and NBA icon. And bc people love a$$holes and unapologetic types, he’s gonna be one of the few guys people universally love and remember fondly

Ie AI, mo one remembers AI in the grizzlies jersey or him getting crosses up and throw around with the Pistons

Really bad three point shooting percentage for majority of his career.

If you're the veteran guard, you gotta be decent from long rage at least. All that athleticism + no major injury in his career has kept him in the league, but it's fading and he has nothing much else to offer. His season with the Clippers was pretty damn bad. Surprised a championship contender Denver signed him up for two seasons.
