If you're trying to burn the most fat possible and enjoy lifting more than cardio, then do 20 minutes of cardio before lifting....

If you're trying to pack on some pure muscle and only that, do some "light" cardio" after lifting hard.....

The best Combo is 40 minutes of HIIT(fasted state if you can) in the AM and pushing weights in the PM on the same day

Run after you lift... When you lift first at an intense level, your body burns off all your reserve carbs, protein, and uses it for energy...

So when it comes time to hit the treadmill... The only thing left in your body to use for energy will be Fat and Oxygen ....

So which one would you recommend breh! The HITT workout or INSANITY since you seem to have some knowledge on both.

Here are some articles you can read to learn more about it: Bodybuilding.com - HIIT Articles!

In a nutshell, HIIT is a form of cardio that involves short bouts at high speed/intensity with periods of rest. I don't know much about Insanity to know if it incorporates HIIT into the workouts. HIIT, when done effectively, can burn a lot of body fat in a short period of time and will not make you lose the muscle you build from your workouts.

HIIT however, has less to do with being cardio than it does with the execution, timing & succession of exercises you're doing. For example, one can superset, or TRI set two or three (weightlifting) workouts back to back, all in one set......rest a minute or two, then complete another set of all two or three exercises back to back, and it's still considered HIIT.

So to say doing HIIT AFTER weightlifting is kind of :ehh:
Me personally, damn near ALL my weightlifting is HIIT.
You lessen the need for cardio, since you're essentially performing cardio AND weight work at once, and by doing so you're burning calories at a faster rate (during & afterwards) than just HITT cardio or regular cardio alone.

Also, you're building muscle and reaping the benefits of it, while also reaping the benefits of cardiovascular (heart, lungs, veins) workouts.

it is always important to do some sort of cardio to get your heart rate up and warm up the muscles. Stretching is also very important, everyday you plan on lifting and just in general to improve flexibility.

If you plan on doing proper squats, dead lifts or any Olympic style lifting then you need great muscle endurance and more importantly flexibility to ensure proper form.

The duration and intensity is going to vary based on your particular goals i.e. just trying to warm up or wanting to improve cardiovascular fitness.

Whatever works for you is fine. Running, swimming, basketball, jumping rope...

Yall tripping I do HIIT before my lift sessions.

It's only for 10 mins gets my blood pumping and I have a great session.

I do speed intervals on the treadmill.

First 2 mins walking on
Then run every other min about that. When I get to 8 mins I run the last 2 mins till cool down. Perfect way to start my workouts to me. After my lifting I do my heavy cardiovascular either jumping rope, treadmill, bike or step mill.
