The funny thing reading posts in this thread is some will say the guys at MSFT are smarter than anyone who slightly disagrees with them because they have data and numbers but then simultaneously believe there aren't smart people at Sony doing the same thing.

Weird one sided appeal to authority going on here.

If Sony was smart, they would have been advanced their PS Now service, but they didn't. Let's be honest most Japanese businesses don't think out the norm when it comes to services. Sony doesn't have the ability to do anything innovative while losing money.

Can't believe Sony Ponys arguing about a subscription service and day 1 games like it is not going to benefit the consumer. This is fanboyism to the fullest degree and none of you dudes work for Sony. Everything is going subscription base because it is guarantee profit for the holders. Microsoft Office is Sub based, Netflix, Disney Plus, Xbox Gamepass, Cable Television and the damn Internet.

Sony got you dudes believing Triple AAA games will suffer from subscriptions is the dumbest bullshyt I have read and seen on the internet. Like Bethesda Todd Howard said, Subscription base offers the opportunity to present games or ideas that doesn't rely on budget constraints or failure. This is the future and Sony is being left behind like Blockbuster, Kodak and other companies who failed to get up on the times.
In the short term there will be pain but long term they will make that back and then some. Problem is Sony is doing record numbers and they don't want to see any interruption to that gravy train.

Microsoft has the blessing that they can do this and the company behind it makes so much money that the losses aren't that big of a deal. If Sony does this their shareholders aren't gonna like it but you know what else their shareholders aren't gonna like? Game Pass reaching critical mass and Sony being on the outside of that subscription service model looking in.

Still this happened in other fields. Remember the RIAA kicking and screaming in the music industry as the business model changed right under them. The movie industry is struggling with this now. Industries go through transitions and the companies that embrace them tend to do better than the ones that resist and try to preserve the older model.

This is a nonsensical post.

You are correct but that is the problem with business and being number 1 in the field. You have to make changes that challenges your bottom dollar rather you like it or not. Sony should have seen this coming especially with marketplaces such as Steam, Epic Store and Subscription based businesses. Sony doesn't trust their fanbase because if they did, they would have made the sacrifice. I understand before PS4 they were close to bankrupt, but you have to make sacrifices to stay number 1. They put out a half ass PS Now with no incentive to gain subscriptions and thought consoles will only be the main goal when technology around the world is changing... 5G network connectivity etc..

You can play Xbox on a cellphone in Brazil and a tablet in United Arab Emirates. Microsoft save so much money this generation in the first year not putting out hardware to meet consumer demand.

Prove me wrong? I hate how you Sony dudes never provide a narrative or Summary, just said nonsense. How is it nonsense? Sony been reactive since PS2 days.
Your posts in this thread so far have been "Sony trash son, MSFT winning :blessed: circlejerk.

It's very disingenuous and is mostly conjecture.

Nothing said would be sufficient to you guys as anything that isn't blatant rejoicing of something MSFT is doing is met with "Sony ponies lol".

I already commented and said this was a simple merge because the PS+ branding is much better than PS Now because it's not advertised as heavily even when it's been improved.

Likewise, PS Now has been "Sony Gamepass" in everything but name since forever. How that gets lost in translation is weird as a monthly sub for games has been a thing for years.

Gamepass just has day 1 games on there for the most part whereas PS+ has had day one games on there e.g. Fall guys, Rocket league etc. Moving to PS+ is a much easier sell as it's easier for someone to move up a tier in a sub than to sub to a different service altogether.

Sensationalized reporting makes this appear to be bigger than it is e.g. "Sony Gamepass!?!?"

From a business standpoint Sony decision making has been trash and its finally catching up. Those shareholders missing out on quarter billion dollars monthly just off subscription and leveraging their games. You don't think Rachet n Clank, Returnal would benefit from a subscription base service? Those games barely sold 1.5 and 500k copies. You probably won't see another iteration again for years just because. The subscription base model would have benefited Sony because their AAA titles take years to release. All they have to do is merge PS Plus with PS Now and release their titles day 1.

Microsoft had AA titles such as State of Decay or Grounded hit over 10 million users easily off subscriptions which will benefit their title in future iterations and possible DLC I mean the possibilities are endless. Sony will have to follow the lead fully very soon or it will be ugly.

Your choice of using "barely" as an adverb for a $70 game that came out about 6 months ago is interesting considering you completely ignored other factors such as dev costs, PS5 availability etc.

Also,

Oh, so a game that has gotten "played" by 10 million users on a subscription service spanning Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC is certainly a valid comparison to what we're talking about(hard sales).

Again, your whole posts are just simply junk with some random numbers and exaggeration sprinkled in. I can't take your posts seriously :mjlol:

Bro this might read like a stretch but I think some of it is rooted in elitism. Like brehs be on some, ":picard:...heavens, no! How dare you lower the cost of entry for these peons?!”

They perceive it as it a threat to their experience. As if taxing people $70 a pop somehow makes a game inherently better :troll:. It's silly.

You don't understand even though they games are on a service; they are still purchasable. Steam had Sea of Theives, Grounded shyt all Microsoft titles in the top 10 at one point. Microsoft has made more money just releasing those titles just for 60 or 70 dollars with what you Sony dudes pay.

Sony has sold 14 million consoles if I am wrong correct me. Returnal is a flop and Clank. Numbers don't lie. The adoption rate is not matching to the systems being sold. It is a proven fact that Sony buyers don't play their exclusives. I am talking from a business standpoint not fanboyism. Returnal failed. They spent more money on marketing then the game sold. Clank only selling 1.5 and being a long-term mascot for Sony is terrible. This is why Sony need to put their games on subscription services and expand their games from third person video novels.
