Rumor: HBO Max may be folding into Discovery+

When they merge I'm going to need a list of good Discovery shows. I remember growing up watching the Crocodile Hunter and Mythbusters so shyt like that. Last show on there that I got into was Future Weapons or actually it was a show with Michio Kaku. I liked the show but I hated how at the end he'd give a bs solution to things like space travel or predator style camouflage.

Zaslav says that the streamer is undervalued and they should be charging more.

There are streamers that have more but is essentially more crap.

Warner brothers discovery (nicca) does not have money to burn like apple and Amazon so they can't give a discount. High quality television is expensive. Letting directors have they own vision like Letting Nolan run amuck for more than a decade with his ungrateful ass is expensive. Comic book movies are expensive.

I was paying 300 dollars for cable with no hbo. Till it get that bad I ain't gonna worry about. I can't date a hot chick but I can watch hbo. I will stay at the 15 dollar price point until I see it's a problem. I don’t give out the password and my family only watches it for big events.

their whole plan involves most of their discovery + fanbase signing up for max so they're trying to make it more simple for them
the idea is that if you get that person who pays only $7.00 a month right now to pay $20 you'll win
they already have all the HBO customers so they're like you'll be here regardless and we don't have to do much to keep you here
but the less sophisticated viewer hates current HBO Max and has been staying away from it or don’t use it as heavy

Its only staying that way right now because they don’t want to just drop 20 mil subscribers all at once and lose the $7 they’re getting

You right, i was paying about 120 ish so i guess for me it’s like damn it’s creepin to as much as i pay for cable, but i suspect most people pay close to what you paid a month so for them 1 something is a break, but i assure them, adding discovery won’t have me saying damn i gotta get it now, hell if i could drop the discovery part to make it cheaper i would

The reason I liked HBO Max, was it was so much cleaner and tasteful, if that makes sense, esp. in 2021. It had the prestige stuff, which is all I want.

Whenever I want to look for something to watch, which is rare, I usually have something in mind, and I hate going to Netflix, because it's like a Walmart aisle, just junk and noise and chaos. Middle American programming.

Now, I have to see ads for trailer trash styled programming on Discovery lol

when what I want is the elitist aesthetic of HBO

It's more of comedic complaining, but I really think there will be changes like that, and the idea that there is some kind of major crossover between HBO and Discovery? Seems misguided.

I am for sure going to have to see targeted ads and selections about extremely low brow Discovery reality shows. And that is why I always preferred HBO Max.

I don't think there's much of a crossover but this is what every major media conglomerate is doing, combining assets.

Exactly. You basically knew with the "HBO" label that even if you weren't interested in the show's topic - there would be a premium level of quality there.

I just listened to a podcast from an HBO exec about how hard they protect the brand. Seems like he got vetoed and now they want to put McDonalds burgers on the menu at my favorite upscale restaurant. They say it's just more options but we know that cooking style is gonna fukk everything else up.

I've actually watched and enjoyed episodes of 90 Day Fiance. But keep that shyt separate.

I love how with prime when you pause it, on the paused scene it will show the info of the characters on screen and occasionally some X-ray or Easter egg shyt.

HBO UI been trash from the beginning. It's extremely buggy and hangs up a lot. It's gotten a bit better but it's still trash compared to the others you mentioned.
