Robocop (2014) - 49% :rudy:

Just watched that movie. shyt was piff. A lot better than some of these other wack ass sci-fi movies with high scores, like Prometheus (73%) or Dredd (78%) :camby:

Well it depends on what you think is the lesser of 2 evils. RT is a consensus opinion made up of snobby film critics and IMDB is a consensus opinion made up of hardcore nerds and geeks.

Which is why I tend to strictly go by my own damn opinion but that's just me

I think most people go by their own opinion (I think).

But I do see wayyyy too many people online cite RT scores as if they're based in factual ground. You can cite them if you wanna illustrate some vague point about critical reception but you can't try and pass em off as hard facts.

Just cause we all watch the same movie doesn't mean we'll all SEE the same movie.

:salute: been saying the same shyt for years. People don't realize film is subjective and there isn't a hard science to it. My homie and I saw Prometheus, I couldn't stand it and on subsequent views, he likes it much more than he did on the first view. Does that mean he's wrong and I'm right? No, just means we each saw the film differently and it worked for him for his personal reasons. Same with Amazing 2, which you cited: There are things in the film that work for me on a lot of levels and I have another homie who hated it. Now of course, he's the type to believe he's right on everything and that film is objective but he's also an idiot :russ: but the reasons it worked for me are the reasons it wouldn't work for him at all because of how he approaches film. Every person approaches film differently which is why you have plenty of people who love the Transformers flicks because of how they approach film and what they want out of certain things. And then you have people who no matter what, they cannot stomach 2.5 hours of Michael Bay doing what he does best. Neither group is wrong

Gravity - 97%

It just didn't click with me at all. I saw it on DVD, and I remember people in the Gravity thread saying it's a better experience in theaters, but I wasn't feeling the plot or the acting so I doubt it would have a made a difference for me.

Couldn't you at the very least watched a 1080p stream?

I missed seeing it in 3D in the theater :snoop:, but I peeped HD stream of it off PSN and liked it so much I copped the blu when it was on sale.

Ratings are all over the place.

Also, I think they should either not allow new reviews for old films or separate new reviews from original reviews from when the film was released.

another reason i miss ebert.

he used to re-review old films decades letter for a fresh perspective and to see how they aged.. his ratings would often change in the newer review

I may be black breh but I cannot stand bad boys 2. I didn't like it when I was 17 and I don't like it now :manny:. And I don't think that's black bias I think that's Michael Bay bias but that's my view...but still, I'm not a fan of the 2nd bad boys flick at all
I fukking hate michael bay, but fukk, I love bad boys 1 and 2

second is definitely not as good, but i can watch will smith and martin lawrence all day. I couldn't even fathom how garbage those two movies would've been without them cast as the leads. they have great chemistry

Well you know originally it was supposed to be a Jon Lovitz and Dana Carvey vehicle :mjpls:
