This is why I loved them. I thought that was why they were revered. This thread got me questioning people's musical knowledge/taste. Like people REALLY don't listen. I honestly thought this was common understanding. Got me wondering why people really like legendary artists.

I don't think he would've been frustrated. He knew what he was doing and he knew how people would react. He had been at the top of his game for close to 10 years. He knew people liked how his music sounded but were they really listening? Not at all.Hence "y'all don't want to hear me, you just want to dance."

But you can tell he was giving up on the industry/fans/music thing in general. Making Hey Ya the way he did shows how far ahead he was. "I'm just gunna play with y'all, you don't really understand", on some bored shyt. He made it super obvious and people still didn't catch it.
