nikka my sophmore year in college I used to listen to this EVERY DAMN DAY...

all day, smoke to it, bone chicks to it, chill and listen to it, play xbox/ps2 games to it...just a dope album...

I always came back to it every couple years, but I NEVER really understood how it all flowed together. I got some of the concepts in the songs, but not how overall the album made sense and flowed TOGETHER. I just looked at every song indvidually.

Ever since I saw this thread, TLB has been BACK on constant repeat...Listening now makes me see, that I didn't really really LISTEN to the whole lyrics back then, now it's so right in my face it's stupid lol...

Damn, and people say 3000 isn't a great rapper? Cause he doesn't have the albums? nikka, if he ONLY had this he'd be up there. Guy is TRULY ahead of his time and I understand why he doesn't wanna perform (although I know he is now) cuz he SICK of this crap. I mean he told people flat out in Hey Ya they don't get it and we didn't. Hell, I'd be finished too, I make greatness and people only listen to the beat? Man, I'm done lol

last thing....I LOVE "Prototype" Like the song almost has me in tears how SOULFUL and smooth it is. Like the beat will have you in a trance. Listened on the metro to work and I was literally welling up thinkin of my fiance and how I see HER as the "Prototype" damn, 3Stacks, I know we're not worthy, but can you give us just ONE MORE of these? PLEASE MAN lol..."Pink and Blue" and "Love and War" make me feel all warm inside as well(pause!!)...but that damn prototype beat and minimal words just do it to me

rant over lol

my boy burned me this album back in my frosh. year of college and I used to keep "roses" and "prototype" on repeat. The rest of the album was garbage tho.

Sadly enough, this is the closest thing to a solo that 3 stack will ever give us. :to: I didnt like TLB at first, sonically it didn't measure up to what was "hot" at the time. Granted I loved "prototype" "roses" and a few other tracks, but I didn't really dive into the album and really understand it until about a year after its release.

I was listening to the album wrong at first and I wasn't listening to the album from a creative perspective. Once I understood TLB's concept, it all made sense :blessed:

i forgot those on purpose because u cant really tie those songs into the story because its 3 missing pieces to the albums

http://www.rhapsody.com/artist/outkast/album/speakerboxxxthe-love-below-explicit/track/the-letter

the letter goes right before my favorite things

the clock was originally after the god interlude, its like stacks and god conversation, 'The clock only halts when you waltz in lieu' is god tellin stacks, u in a rush to fall in love, take your time, and think outside the box, but stacks being a man, thinkin with his dikk, he learned the hard way, fell in love fast, the finally listen to god, and found a older woman.

movin cool was originally on the greatest hits album, dre spoke on it and said it was based concept he was creating for solo album, the love below about a guy in paris lookin for love

spin had a article with dre's original tracklisting

and movin cool was right after the good day good sir skit, it made sense if u put it there, he with his potna, then spot a chick, and if u listen to movin cool, he is goin in for the kill to get the older chick, get to pink n blue, its about her age and he dont give shyt

the letter is the older woman, doin some darlin nikki shyt, she turned him out and lets him know the real

:mindblown:...wow..so Paula Patton was involved in this shyt for the longest time and you didn't even know it..:wow:

oh yeah I always loved the Idlewild version of She Lives In My Lap...THAT shyt is like...man :wow:

It's still crazy to think that Arista records was NOT behind the Speakerboxxx/The Love Below album from jump. I remember watching this Russell Simmons documentary called "The Industry" and they talked about how Arista was against the 2 album format. Arista pretty much tried everything in their power to fukk over OutKast with that album. From under shipping the album, fukking up the packaging, and pretty much telling them that they are on their own when it comes to promoting it. The only reason it got the greenlight was because LA Reid back them 100%, until the label fired him when the album was about to be released.

Not only was the album successful, but they had 3 platinum singles, won Album of The Year at the Grammys, and became one of the highest selling albums in hip-hop history.

It was pretty much the biggest :pacspit: at the label for trying to fukk up something special..

You can tell that Love Below wasn't tampered with by any label when it comes creativity and its concept. That shyt is all authentic Andre.

And if you want to get to My Favorite Things interlude I see that as a fast forward thing that highlights the highs and lows of their relationship..

breh, i kid you not thats exactly how i pictured it in my head while My Favorite Things played. Him and the older chick coming together and living life with each other. Got damn that album is powerful :wow::to::wow:
