And why are they remaking Roots again? We used to watch this ish in school and I went to mixed schools. Hell, BET and Family channel used to show this every year for Black History Month. The original is a classic...Next Gen and Queen.....ehhhh

If you haven't seen Roots, let me sum up
Geordi belongs to a tribe, his best fried is Raj. He becomes a man and met Fanta AKA Ms. Levias from Lean on Me who's pop was OJ. Geordi found the white man, given instructions on what not to do and did that ish anyway, so he was taken by Ed Asner. They try to take over the ship, get hit with the cannon, reach America. He gets sold to Lou Goussett Jr massa, given chores a name which gets beat into him. Jordi grows up and becomes James Evans/McDowell. He keeps tryna escpae until they chop off his foot then he gets sold to Mike Brady and meets Queen Aoleon and they give birth to Kizzy. Sandy Duncan teaches Kizzy to read, so she forges papers for Coochise who finally gives up the name after a whipping. She gets sold to Massa Chuck Connors who loves his coffee so then comes Chicken Ben Vereen. Chicken goes off to make some chicken, buys his freedom and land. But he leaves his sons Tom and whatever young son name was and his grandson Willis Jackson. You got the war, end of slavery, birth of the Klan...Tom dealing with real ish...then Chicken George returns for his family...The End. Oh yeah Maya Angelo was Jordi's grandma
any a cac or c00n would consider this house negro misntrel tale classic:ufdup:

after that savage cave beast(overseer) beat the militant out of Kunta, and transformed into Toby the gentle runaway buck the story lost the lone redeeming quality/reason to watch and regressed to a slavery soap opera:scust:

Jews say 'never forget' about the holocaust. What do we say? I know it hurts but this is part of our legacy as well.
okay why just focus and even remake the stories in which we were portrayed as docile cowards:stopitslime:why not tell the whole story? how about a Black Seminoles, Bass Reeves or other enslaved blacks whom won/took their freedom by force and didn't wait for massah to die off or a white savior to rescue them:comeon:

No one Black is against that and are you positive they aren't planning to do a miniseries on Bass Reeves? Do a little research.
And I would never call my ancestors cowards, they were fukkin' survivors!

Did any of you fukkers even see roots? Kunta kept running until they chopped his foot off. Hated white folks until the end. His daughter was raped by her new owner had a house niga who was a chicken whisperer and bought his freedom. I feel all that shyt about tom was made up but there was no love for whitey in that move. It seems like black people got a complex about being descendents of survivors
that's it he kept running like a coward...if Kunta was a man about his at the first opportunity he would have butchered every devil whom tortured him then fled...speaking of getting his foot cut off the scene prior in which he was tracked down by a couple slave catching cacs he towered over and put on a :mjcry:face like you got me without even trying to resist was the moment i stopped watching that bullshyt:scust:considering the koonbaya ending i hear i didn't miss anything though:camby:

OH so a child is questioning my blackness for a movie my parents let me watch along with eyes on the prize so I know what my people went through. It would be a cracker who seeks to devide.
yeah i'm sure pigskins get a hardons watching the slavery porn/domination over the black race watching Roots and it takes you back to the good ole days. when negros understood their place:mjpls:

i doubt it and skeptical until it's actually in the theateres...but even if they were it speaks volumes portrayals of blacks as spineless, subservient step-n-fetch its are made first and in much greater numbers:comeon:

Do some research if you doubt it. Why are you skeptical?
Yes, it does speak volumes. How do we get there though? By not making anything until we can make the movie/TV series you personally approve of? Or by getting as many productions done, aired and positively reviewed and viewed by the general public so we can go and make the next thing with more autonomy?

cause until the announcement of the Nat Turner movie they're has yet to be a feature length film on strong black protagonist/historical figures whom fought for their freedom..almost all other American slavery films blacks are dehumanized the whole film until they a cac with a heart of gold gives them their freedom or they just die slaves:aicmon:well we got there accepting this white supremacist propaganda and revisionist history as the end all be all of our story...no self respecting black would support 99% of most American slavery films:camby:

Hmm . . . you must have missed:
Malcolm X
Selma
Ali
Amistad
Hurricane
42
Panther
Rosewood
Red Tails

And really I think Black folks generally speaking do accept more than 99% of american slavery stories, especially fukkin' Roots. So you just placed yourself on the outside of most Black folks as not as self-respecting as you are?! :what:
Your dedication to Black people and Black unity is on full display. lol

most of those films don't fit the criteria i set:patrice:
-haven't watched Malcolm X but what i know from his history dude was a more radical civil rights activist not a literal freedom fighter:comeon:
-Selma is about MLK and other civil rights activist trying to pressure the government to end Jim Crow laws while peacefully marching and singing negro spirituals while being hosed and attacked by packs of racist cacs/pigs :stopitslime:
-Ali,Hurricane, and 42 are all films about historical black sports figures:mjlol:...the fact you would list them as examples of movies about black militants whom fought white supremacy to achieve freedom helps prove my point.:aicmon:

-Red tails is about c00ns whom served, fought and died in war for the same government whom considered them less than a man:scust:

-Isn't Rosewood was the story how Black Wallstreet was burned down by cac mobs:usure:
-Haven't seen Panther so i will reserve judgement but that's like one possibility out of 9 you given:sas2:

nah it's mostly cacs stuck on, keep making and give reverence to slave torture films like Roots...i don't know one black person with a Roots or other slave flick in their movie collection:yeshrug:

Yeah just what we fukking need in 2016. :rudy: FOH.

You know what would be "epic"? A series based on an African kingdom or anything that shows how powerful we were for all the thousands of years BEFORE slavery.
BOOM!!!!!

Actually you said: " they're has yet to be a feature length film on strong black protagonist/historical figures whom fought for their freedom". These all qualify.
Nice job disrespecting the Tuskegee Airmen, Muhammad Ali, Hurricane Carter and Jackie Robinson while you stand on their shoulders. :snoop:
I think people interested in history being portrayed dramatically would want to see that. Just guessing though. lol
