OSU has always had a QB-friendly playbook that doesn’t require many decisive reads. They cater to their QBs inherent strengths. With that said, CJ already looks better than fields and looked better in college too.

I think day is good at dialing up some things, that said, we aren’t doing him any favors

If this was any other organization, Justin Fields wouldn't even be the backup QB.

He obviously has no confidence in what he's seeing out on the field.

In a way, I feel bad for him because the Bears over drafted him and really have to start him to justify his draft position (I believe the Bears traded up for him, right?).

Those highlights are difficult to watch.

What’s the last OSU qb to be a pro bowler?

Not trying to pile on, but it is strange that a top 3 all time CFB program hasn’t produced a quality nfl qb in the last 30+ years. Meanwhile there’s MFers from DII school and stuff that went to SBs.

Hate to say it, but Fields might be another victim of @Swagnificent eye theory
The issue is part JF, part Chicago

He’s making some head scratching decisions, but then I’ll always circle back to a qb is as good as his coordinator/personnel, and we are not exactly helping him, with bad line play and play design, last week we were in the red zone and ISO’d kemet, who got covered well, who tf thinks kemet is good enough to put route a db like that ?? Apparently our oc did
I think the more troubling thing is him scrambling into pass rushers. Fields cant see the field is one problem but now his running game isnt that dynamic.

I'll say this though..Eric Bienemy (sp) was there on a silver platter to help resurrect his career. Instead hired a DC whose defense cant do shyt with an offense that looks very similar to Nathaniel Hackett's garbage as well.

Bears need to clean house after this season. Sad to say but I'd move off Fields if Caleb was available.

yeah it's just about over for him. If CJ Stroud don't work out. NFL teams need to have a ban on Ohio State QBs on all their draft boards.

What do you think @Buckeye Fever ?

To be fair they really didnt have NFL caliber QBs until recently.

Haskins(r.i.p) was too immature
Fields, as of now, just doesnt see the field well enough
CJ Stroud is the most accurate, but really needs the Texans to build the organization correctly.

Joe Burrow would have been good regardless.

I think the coaching staff has done him no favors. When Fields is going back to pass, he should be looking at his first read, then on to his second read and if that's not there RUN. That's his ace in the hole. Why not use his legs since he's clearly struggling out there?

It's like they're trying to convert him into a pocket passer and taking away the one thing that he does well. You've got a guy who can run for 1000 yards at the QB spot and you don't utilize his legs? Sheer stupidity

I get that...

But NFL caliber QBs aren't dependent on recruiting stars. Random programs like Purdue have put out better QBs

I remember NFL talking heads saying it should be a crime for Fields to have slipped that far in the draft

You won't last long or win in the NFL doing that, either he develops into an NFL QB or you cut bait

Eberflus is 3-16 as Bears HC. He's not gonna get another year if the offense is an abortion. If this guy is your starter, why not put him in position to succeed?
