...boy, people bend over backwards to try to find something to argue about.... 2pac's identity became more thuggish as he got into his death row era...

how so?

all of pac's off-wax incidents & controversies came before death row.

outside of the vegas incident, what real trouble did pac get into while on death row?

...boy, people bend over backwards to try to find something to argue about.... 2pac's identity became more thuggish as he got into his death row era... but you explain to me why cats love matw, aeom, and makeveli, but hate s4mn and 2pacalypse now.... i liked all of pac's joints from the beginning..... it's strange to be arguing with pac fans over an album we're all appreciating... i give the album love and ponder why other cats can't see the brilliance of this album and i get dished....
Pac's been more thuggish before he became to DR. He associated with more gangstas but that's it.

those albums are just plain better all around once he start fukin with Johnny J, MATW aint even death row era,and pac fans love thug life vol1 too from what I seen at least. I don't think people hate his first two they just don't stand out in a great body of work as the great pieces:ohlawd:

All I can give you with the Deathrow era is that is a popular perception that he only became a thug and started rapping thug shyt after deathrow, but its still horribly wrong:pachaha:...only difference is it felt more real because you knew the situation and because it was....then you add in the fact he affiliated with Suge of course it got a little more scary:whew:

But dude wasn't angryat nikkas as much before getting shot, then sent to jail,is that hard to imagine:pachaha:...if his music changed for no reason just because he signed to Deathrow I could see peoples point when they bring this up. Folks act like he pulled a MC Hammer when he signed to deathrow:laff:

in 1993, this album was not considered...the singles sure, and pac was certainly making a name for himself, but that was a combination of the singles, the movies and his controversy...the album itself wasnt making any best of the year lists etc

just because it wasn't one of the best albums of '93, doesn't mean it wasnt hot or popular.

there was a ton of good albums. its disrespectful to chit on them just because they aren't amongst the 5 best or whatnot.

and according to the " holy grail " the source reasonble doubt wasn't a classic in 1996 until jay-z said it was in 2001 lmao so there goes your theory.

No one is going back and saying that album was a classic

thug life significantly better

well im not shyting on the album per say, i just wanted to clarify to make sure no historical revisionism is happening

and my views on the album is shaped by the music itself. i thought it was a solid album, and there are a handful of tracks that would make it to a Best of Pac playlist or collection. But only half the album was enjoyable, in my opinion

pac was still finding himself, which there is nothing wrong with,. i actually appreciate the raw, unpolished, amateur pac, it places things in context and allows us to chart his progress

:whoo:

i listened to the album earlier today on the strength of this thread and the album is even a little bit better than i remembered. its not a classic, but its legit good. 3.5/5 is what id give it. which is what the source gave it when it came out, from what i just read.:ohhh:since when is a 3.5 record not enough to be classified as good?:what::patrice:

most slept on tracks
