This is why you listen to your body. I remember when the whole bodybuilding thing was huge, these guys were telling you you were weak because you didn't blast through the pain and ignore the signals your body gave you.

That’s why I lift a reasonable amount but also take plenty of rest days.


Also if I feel “tight” I take a couple extra days off.

I’ve been lifting for 16 years and never a major injury or any type of long lasting discomfort

This is exactly why I take the Frank Zane approach to lifting. He now advocates lifting enough to get a good pump instead of lifting an exorbitant amount of weight and risking injury. When you go hard like that, it ain't a matter of if you fukk yourself up, it's when. I still think about that video where old dude tore his peck benching some crazy weight :merchant:
