Footwork is footwork. You were bad at footwork. I don't understand what you mean by saw the punches. Are you saying you saw them completely or at the last moment?

@Yuzo would be able to help you on this alot more than me. He's a technique scholar.

You shouldn't have quit anyways. You should have asked your opponent what your biggest problems were. It's fukked up they laughed at you too. Who laughs at beatings? :dahell:
No. I could see the punch while it was coming at me. I would just be stuck staring at my opponents fist before it made contact (:snoop:). Even when my coach threw really slow punches(slow-mo style)I would just stare while they were coming and not move. Could it be because I have ADD?

Yeah I felt awful after that sparring session. It was my first one also. I stuck around for a few more afterwards, but couldn't get up to be excited anymore.

Depends on how quick and efficiently you can learn. I watched a offensive footwork video on YouTube and picked that up in a week. My problem is defense and defensive footwork.

Btw, why can I see the punches coming to me, but my body freezes/doesn't move quick enough? I quit after 2 months because I lost confidence after getting slaughtered in front of like 30 people (dudes were legit laughing at me because my defense was so bad:francis:).

Edit: Forgot to mention that I pretty decent on offense. My coaches said that I was good enough in that department to spar with the big boys aka the dudes who've been boxing for at least 5 months-some years. That's when I got outclassed. He didn't put me against people around my experience level because I had a better grasp of the game.

I also kind of didn't wanna spar when I actually got in
If you're not a natural, you usually get your ass whipped. It's apart of it.

Thing is, you shouldn't even be really sparring until you master the basics. You don't learn footwork in a week when I was boxing. You literally spend momths doing drills. It's was literally the first thing we worked on/warmedup with and the last thing we worked on/cooled down with.

It became habit.. Almost like dancing

You have to get your body to do things by muscle memory or habit, to the point where you don't even think about it, it's how you naturally move. THEN you should probably spar because people tend to forget shyt in the ring when they're getting hit in the face even if they spent months learning it. Thats why it has to be second nature to you, a part of your style. Literal hours spent doing the same shyt over and over.

You think you're good but theres always someone better and someone to learn from. I light sparred a pro heavyweight and got my ass kicked and didn't seem to hurt him. I asked him what did I need to work on and he literally told me nothing. Said he beat me off experience alone. It happens. Quit if you like but try to get a coach that has time to get you 1v1 or find friends that you will both help sharpen each other with. Steel sharpens steel...

I did 1 footwork drill with my coach and then I started sparring. The dude who I was in with was this short Puerto Rican who had better footwork than most pro boxers. He has to spar dudes who have significant advantages over him because he kills everyone else. I couldn't get a hit on him unless he wanted me to:francis:

My coaches would just tell me to warm up then I'd jump rope, hit the heavy bag, shadow box and then spar. I didn't feel like I was getting that much better because my defense wasn't being worked on.

They and everyone else in the gym said that I had talent and would watch me closely, but I just couldn't see it.

It's like that in big popular gyms which is how I started as a kid but didn't do much sparring then. We sparred but I never took it serious and usually only used sparring to specifically focus on defense.

I had another coach who taught me 1v1 by watching me hit the bags at the gym in the military. I was nice because what I learned as a kid. We started working out together then he offered to coach me. He had a classes with people but we did a lot of 1v1 together. Sometimes I helped him teach his class as well. But it was almost 6 months before I actually sparred despite how advanced I was at the time.

Sounds like they just threw you in the fire, mainly to get reps in for that other kid and maybe to see how you respond/skill level. Basically work on footwork a lot. Drills pretty much everyday for at least 3 rounds on your own. Work on technique first, cardio and shyt you can do on your own time

They threw me in to see how I would do. I forgot all of my technique:russ::francis:.

The reason they did that is because I was a lot better than the dudes I came in with. I had MiddleWeights surprised by my power and guys who had way more experience than me saying that I had fast hands/good head movement. My coaches thought that I had enough natural talent to spar with the elites(Which I didn't:snoop:)so they said fukk it.

Well they didn't think you would win they just wanted to see how you do.

And yeah, you hadn't been doing it that long to remember everything and it wasn't second nature. As soon as you got hit in the face you was probably like :mjcry: but you can't box and expect to not get hit. You also shouldn't have expected to outbox a much much seasoned boxer no matter his size. Natural gifts are one thing, everyone usually has something. I'm naturally fast/power as well, I've broke heavybags down. Doesn't mean shyt with bad technique, footwork, and shotty defense. All that comes from time

No problem

And no I'm not even Amateur. Started as a kid and stopped for a long time. Picked it back up in the military after a lot of surgeries prevented me from running like I needed to.

And then for a few other reasons... Lazy, injured, older, don't really want to get punched in the head alot, and then I would have to shed a ton of weight. I think I liked the concept of boxing and training and thats it really

Jesus you really are an idiot. Those rankings aren't even official and the point your making is too flimsy and petty to be coming from a male.

PVZ is so privileged she gets to headline a free card as the # 10 ranked fighter in her class instead of having to be ranked 8 like brunson, this is what we're discussing? :sadcam: But wait, Derrick lewis was ranked 12 when he had the co-main vs Nelson. Must be that black male privilege. under your logic, if she had black male privilege she would be able to get a title shot while being ranked outside the top 5 like OSP :wow: you sound like a whole hoe

Sage has hype behind him because he has legit talent. Page is known for being cute...Both need to win to stay in the ufc like any other fighter.

You should have just left like you pretended to instead of whipping up this corny "you activated my trap card!" post

OSP was an injury replacement you dumb fukk. Again, using someone black that's ranked #6 in his weight class as a retort to a white fighter ranked 83rd proves my point 100%. Apparently that concept eludes you. Sage Northcutt was signed because hes an Abercrombie model with a white face. VanZant is #10 as a fukking woman straweight, are you going to compare the talent between woman strawweight and heavyweight division as equivalent? No other woman in that weightclass has ever gotten media placements, main event fights without being the champion, like Paige has. It's because of her looks. Paige cant fight. Sage cant fight, and neither can CM Punk, theres been zero retort to that regard. As expected.
