This mix illustrates pretty well how better Alchemist was in the first half of his career than afterwards or now.

He admitted many times that he had started experimentig with new styles under the influence of madlib (and oh no).
Each to their own, but those endless loops can't be compared to his older style. One more thing - speaking of rappers he's been working last years - Those dudes are joke in comparison to the rappers he used to work with in the past.

Had to run this back

IMO ALC just taps into different chambers of his artistry and has been 10/10 every time

ALC would be SPOOKY now if he went back to his old way of beat making

Yeah, like you and @shopant I definitely miss Al’s 2000’s beat making style. He’s definitely the type to get bored if he’s not switching things up. There’s been a few occasions where he went back to it for a beat or two here or there, but for the most part I expect that he’ll stay in the collage style beat making lane.

Although Conway did say for his next Alchemist project that he’d like to use some unused beats from the late 90’s and early 00’s that Mobb Deep passed on. I think that would sound pretty dope.

Also, here’s a version of that Guns Razors joint with Mobb Deep too.
