Are we talking about over, like who the actual wrestling fans fukked with?

Or are we talking about popular and recognizable by people outside of wrestling?

Rock of course is number 1 in both aspects, and will shyt on anyone, so of course.

Cena was the Hulk Hogan of the past 15 years. Consistently pushed at the top, the golden boy, held the company down as the face of their brand. And he's successfully branching out into film now.

People outside of wrestling don't know who the fukk Punk is. Not even during the pipe bomb era.

Now would I rather watch Punk over Cena in the ring? Yes. Would I rather listen to him on the mic? Yes. Do I like his character better? Yes.

Does not mean he was more popular to people outside of wrestling.
Austin is more over than Rock to wrestling fans to this day

Don't kill me @R=G but facts are facts :manny:

Punk didn't originally plan for Roman to be in the Shield. He wanted Chris Hero, but the WWE threw Roman instead. He probably has some vendetta over that :pachaha:

That's if you believe Punk's story which I don't. Punk also said he was the first to wear UFC trunks but Vince wouldn't let him then they let Brock wear them.

Ehhh idk, stuff like this you need statistics to show his draw during his peak years. But how exactly do you measure draw? (ratings, viewership, merchandise sale, people chanting his name, etc?)

All I know is more casual people knew about Cena than Punk. Cena was literally the poster boy of WWE for years. Punk seems to only be really popular among wrestling fans. Maybe if Punk stayed in WWE longer it would have been different idk cause it seems like WWE was sabotaging him based on reports and on his account. :yeshrug:

If it means anything I did a comparison on interest of John Cena/CM Punk over time on Google through 2011-2014

https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=2011-01-01 2014-10-25&geo=US&q=John Cena,CM Punk

Based on that data, CM Punk interest grew during his Summer of Punk. Then interest became neck to neck with Cena, then Cena just started gaining more interest than him until he retired.

Roman's not wrong but the concept of someone moving the needle in modern WWE (2010-present) is a myth.

People try to criticize Punk (and Bryan) for not being able to stop the WWE audience/ratings bleed, but that's McMahon self-fulfilling prophecy nonsense. The only "top guy" who matters in that discussion is the one running the company.

So Cal
It's crazy how people keep ignoring the fact that Cena was literally forced upon us.

Jeff Hardy is the most over wwe superstar post Rock and Austin, not Cena. nikkas wasn't throwing his shirt back, giving him mixed reactions when he fueded with punk. :sas2:

But cause Vince kept him on top and some Michael Cole juelzing, nikkas here actually believe he was a polarizing figure. :mjlol:
